Hello from SF Bay Area

Hello,. I've spent maybe 10 hours cruising your forums over the past 2 days. It's lovely to find a diverse and realistic community to join. I will be making my first post shortly regarding possible tips for an impromptu survey of a boat that I'll hopefully be purchasing this weekend. If you're interested I'm going to post a request for guidance regarding inspection tips on a 1968 Columbia 28'. Thanks for having me aboard!

Re: Hello from SF Bay Area

Thank you for specifying that you are from the SF Bay area. You might want to add that to your profile, so that it appears when you are posting.

Too often people introduce themselves, or ask questions, and only say "I'm in the bay area." Okay, WHICH "bay area!?!" Here in Florida, people might assume you are talking about the Tampa Bay area. Folks in Australia, or Europe, or Asia, all probably have their own major bay areas that they would think of.

So, again, thank you for being specific, and welcome to CF.

There is only one "Bay Area". All others are pretenders.

Welcome. FYI, there has been a lot of discussion on "San Francisco Bay" in the recent past. Using the site's own Google search will find you lots to read once you get out on the water. Maybe let us know where you are on The Bay. One of us might eb close to yu and would be glad to bring over a six pack and help you out. Best of luck with the new boat purchase and/or more lookin'.

Awesome Stu, that would be great. We looked at her, everything looks good. Keel bolts look pretty good,a bit rusty, but not terrible. The starboard has a rough patch job, I might need to do some glass work. And the outboard doesn't look all that reliable. So I'm figuring I can MAYBE get 1k knocked off.
