Barbados Jan13-20

Hi! I will be in Barbados Jan13-20. I live in New York City. I've recently become interested in learning more about sailing, but obviously it's winter here now! Gonna do the ASA101 course in March. I am looking for any recommendations you can provide on sailing schools and the like in Barbados. I would be very interested in a rental (but need a bit of instruction!) of a dinghy, private or group sailing lessons and basically any other way to get out on the water.
If you are on a sailboat in Barbados during that week, I would absolutely love to meet up and would love to come for a sail. Very happy to help out any way I can - not much sailing experience but I'm pretty fit, and I grew up on a US coastal island around boats etc.

Try googling barbados yacht charter, and you will find a bunch of catamarans which take the tourists out. There aren't many cruising boats there because it has one of the world's rolliest anchorages, but there are two clubs which are welcoming, the yacht club and the cruising club. The cruising club is hosting the The Mount Gay Round Barbados Race Series at Barbados Cruising Club Jan 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24.

Thanks so much for the tips! The Mount Gay race sounds awesome. Any tips on how to get involved?

Also I was thinking of maybe taking a sailing course or some lessons while I'm there for the week - does anyone have any recommendations for good (cheap!) sailing instruction in Barbados? Happy to learn on a small boat, or learn some crewing tasks on a larger boat! Not as interested in the turtle snorkeling tours with the cruise ship folks..
