Hello from a desert sailor

Hi

My name is Chris. I'm a middle aged desert dweller with a fond connection to sailboats and water despite my chosen locale.

Over the years I've had some dinghies, up to a 22' sloop when I lived in Florida for a year. I've done the ASA classes through 105, bareboat chartered a few times in the BVI and once out to Santa Catalina. I manage to get some time sailing an Islander 30 in the great lakes each summer at the inlaws' place, a Lido 14 at a summer cabin in Massachusetts that I'm lucky enough to have in my family and a Sunfish here for our few lakes.

I'd like to get some coastal and offshore experience, with the long term goal (10 years) of buying a boat and a longer term (20 years) goal of doing some extensive cruising.

I'll be watching crewing opportunities for situations that may work for me, and contributing to the forum where I can (I have mechanical aptitude and common sense more than any specific relevant skills).

Welcome Santa Fe - I think you'll find quite a few members with sand on their deck shoes. Good luck with your plans!
