heh... one of the biggest downsides to agreeing to be a mod is having to clear out the ignore list. Ya can't ignore anyone if ya wanna mod... THAT was a painful exercise, "Un Ignoring" a number of peeps...

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I thanked you all.
But then I ignored you all so that we wouldn't start some "Thank you. No, thank you. No, thank you. No, thank you NO, THANK YOU. NO, THANK YOU!" back and forth weirdness. Now I'm not sure of anything so I am ignoring this whole thread.
THANKS.

The thread shows this to be a common experience - I know I found my thanks a long time after joining (nothing like 28 though )

Maybe the admins/advisors should consider inverting the default position so that members who are thanked receive an auto emailed advice to that effect.

It'd provide extra encouragement for newcomers especially.

Those who don't want to be so advised can just turn it off; easy.

Was that dribble or drivel?

Same source, different consistency. Makes a difference.

Funny. I wanted to say the same but I'm skating on thin ice now.

I think that dribble is rubbish coming out of your/my mouth involuntarily. Whereas drivel is intended rubbish. Of course that thought could be either. It really is amazing that the amount of both seems to increase as you get older.

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I use the "Thanks" button when someone responds in a useful way or says something with a solid ring of truth to it. I'm also inclined to simply post a response saying thanks. Usually the time I have dictates the choice.

I use a cell phone for CF. I have a computer at work but only visit at lunch on rare occasions. I don't have a thanks or ignore so I try to respond in the thread. Sorry if I haven't found comments too. Maybe I will go on tomorrow at work now to check it out!

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I am guilty of abusing the thanks button... Most often I use it when someone makes me chuckle and brightens my day.

There are many, many great answers on these boards, and whilst I do make an effort to remember to thank them, when I start on that I'm at it all day!
