Sausalito to the Gulf of Thailand

I will be planning a trip, from Sausalito to the Gulf of Thailand. I will be blocking out six months of my life for the trip. The boat I will be taking, is a Caliber 40. What I would like to do is pull from people’s experiences in this forum.

What is a good route to take -- Islands to stop at?

How many fuel stops?

What kind of tools should I have on the boat?

What should I not do!

Realistic Time Frame.

Ect –

Nice meeting you all !

Six months is not enough time to enjoy, even Mexico 6 months is to short. Is it a delivery or a return trip.

Re: Sausalito to the Gulf of Thailand

i have friends currently doing this trip, they left LA in january, route so far was, hawaii, palmyra atoll, kirabati,(fsm) kosirae, phonepei, now currently in pulawat atoll.

they will then coutinue on to palau, then the philipines then singapore, thailand by the end of the year.

it is possable to do it in 6 months but you may be dodging typhoon's for the last bit!

I always wondered about that. Are they hard to dodge? How much time do you spend motoring verse sailing on a trip like that?

They got down to Poluwat in about 4 months. Is that good time ?
