Re: Share Your Favorite Music of the Sea!

Thanks folks for keeping me entertained through a dusty night in the Iraqi desert...I got a good chuckle out of "Shark Fighter" and "Yacht Rock". Now if only my internet speed was faster than 126K.
As Far as Jimmy Buffet, I really like his music though I heard it said that some of you cruisers get burnt out on him. I love the song "Mother Ocean" and two of my videos on youtube are done to Jimmy Buffet tunes. Here's one from my last trip to Costa Rica when we chartered a trimaran to Isla del Cano and Drakes Bay. It was a blast! (I have no affiliation with Haiku Charters though they have become friends since chartering with them a couple of times). On our first (day) trip with them, two of our friends got engaged on the boat which was way cool.

ps I'm the guy with the green army beanie hat. Also don't watch the video if you are desperately in need of a holiday as it might drive you over the edge... I have less than four weeks to go before I get to go home for two weeks...woohoo

Powered up and riding a good swell - I think it is hard to beat Andy Prieboy - "How Would I Know Love Now". For classics - Beethoven's 9th is always good under way.

Some of you are pretty hard core with the sea shanties.

Keep 'em coming though!

Re: Share Your Favorite Music of the Sea!

I was ready to laugh at Celtic Woman- Orinoco Flow but it was actually pretty awesome. Never really listened to that song before.
And now to compensate-

For the younger cruisers out there...

Orinoco flow was originally recorded by Enya back in the 90's? I think.

It was. I just think Celtic Woman "fills" out the song more. Both are good, there just seems more layers of complexity and harmony here.

Enya has a lot of good stuff too though! (and I bet wins all sorts of point with the Admiral or Admiral in training).

Hey, seeing you are "dissing" my choice of Celtic Woman, I will see your Iron Maiden and raise it with this Outlaw tune (and they are from Tampa)
