Overhaulin' (TV Show)

Watching this TV show last night I was thinking it sure would be nice if they had one for overhaulin boats, I would love it if someone rich would pimp my boat free.

Any rich people out there that want to start a TV show?

I would be willing to let you use my boat for your first show.

I don't know, a nice cruiser pimped out to look like a drug dealers car would be a sacrilege. Although, a purple metalflake hull with spinner windlasses and a row of 15 inch subwoofers bolted to the cabintop would be a sight to see. You could have any anchorage you want to yourself, because everyone else would clear out.

I'm just grateful that most of that culture are not into boats...except for a handful of wake boarding boats.

There was a show on (I think) the Fine Living Channel about a father and son who re did a house boat in the Florida keys, it was one hour long, I really enjoyed it.

I'm not sure if the audience market for boats is big enough, the highest rated tv show in the world is Top Gear because cars translate very well to different cultures and shows like Overhaulin are sold around the world to different cable nets.

I'm in the broadcast media business and would have to say it would be a lot of work and very expensive but it possibly could be done cheap if you were to get all the boat parts manufactures to donate the parts for product placement advertising, tough to do for a show that has never aired and you can't gaurantee how many eyeballs will be watching or if it will even air and on what cable net.

I'd think the producers for a Overhaulin show on boats would have to sell the boat for the money at the end instead of giving it away to cover some of the production cost of the show. It takes about $150k to produce a 'small low budget' cable net show excluding the cost of the boat and parts / labor to redo it.

I'll say this, if anyone can get sponsors to donate all the boat parts I'll look into it more.

Cheers!

Lol I started this as a joke about getting my boat refit for free, but hey if you do find someone I would let them do my boat as long as its not like that pink one above.

You could try "Ship Shape TV" out of Stuart Fla. He does mostly power boats but may be willing to do some sailboat stuff for a change. He has produced shows on re-powering, glass work and various installations. He did a presentation/ show at this years Ft. Lauderdale boat show.
