Our discussion usually goes more like:
  • On-watch crew (who is reading a book in the cockpit while Aries is steering): "I think the jib sheet needs to be trimmed."
  • Off-watch crew, making lunch: "You think? Yeah, we should get to that. How about we do that sometime after lunch?"
  • On-watch: "Sound good ... what's for lunch?"
  • ...sometime after lunch.
  • On-watch crew (glancing up out of the book again): "I think the jib sheet needs to be trimmed."
  • Off-watch crew (who is napping or fiddling with a small boat project): "You think? Yeah, we should get to that. How about we do that sometime after dinner..."

Guess that's why we don't race .
