Re: Single Men Living Aboard and Cruising... an honest look.

I am hearing from others that it is harder to actually find a job after 60. Who is really going to be able to go back to work after cruising. I guess that is the question. My thought was the goal is to have enough to make it through life on a simple basis. I know that due to physical limitations I cannot perform my previous job at 53 years young. If my investments don't work for me, I will be likely to run out of money. I guess it depends on how long you make it. My parents only lived to 70 years young.

Re: Single Men Living Aboard and Cruising... an honest look.

The back to work age is different for everyone. As a Toolmaker, I could work well into my 70's and since it's a trade no longer taught, there is a niche for it in the US, Can or EU. for the trade.
Here is what I have seen folks in there 60's,70's and 80's do. A friend on this forum in his late 60's sells hippy T-shirts and other paraphernalia at road sides and flea markets. He and his wife do really well doing this 2-3 days a week. A friend who past away in his late 80's was an Industrial Psychologist in the 1960's. In his 60's had a quadruple bypass, then stepped out of the stressful society and became a wood carver. He lived aboard his Newporter 40 in Halfmoon bay and brought love and light to many people in his later years. He found purpose in helping the poor and handicapped.
If you feel you have to go back to a "career" then they've got to you. You are not your career. Put your focus on what your heart tells you to do. It's called the one foot drop...from following your head down one foot to following your heart.
If I could recommend a book, it would be Bernard Mottessior's "Tamada and the Alliance". We're all just monkeys.

Life is measured by the Limitations you place on Yourself.. not the limitations others try to create..

On board, if you like the life, you don't need all that extra stuff. No one really does anyway. Like Zee, I'd agree if you're 53 and have a way to be afloat ... if not now, when?

I'm 74 but I continue to work two part time jobs that I can come and go with just to keep busy. I'm not dying watching tv.

Exactly
If you cannot do the work, screw it.
Figure out a way to not make yourself stressed about it. To think you can leave over 50 and come back 5 years later and work, good luck.

Ok all you single men living aboard. I have a question?
How many of you believe in Love at first sight?
Have you ever experienced it and if so, how did it turn out?

Just asking!

Lorrie, not recently but there was a time when that happened fairly regularly .Mostly turned out pretty good, the transition sometimes a bit rough . Fell for my latest squeeze >20 yrs ago so no current data.

Re: Single Men Living Aboard and Cruising... an honest look.

I find it a little crazy since you don't know the person, what is to Love?
Sounds like more of a lust thing.
I thought I would ask the men out there. I feel like I get real answers here and free to ask whatever I am curious about.

It almost sounds like a pick up line to me.

Squeeze..??? WTF..???
Lorrie.. fallen in lust often.. dive in the deep end and swim to the shallow..
However to me.. 'Love' is something that grows over time.. and not dependant on how many times a night one gets their 'Leg Over'..
I'm kinda weird like that..

Love is many things. Why are you trying to narrow it down to just the romantic love?

You probably know romantic love is a relatively recent, and strictly localized, idea? They say the West invented it somewhere in the Middle Ages.

So, since we know romantic love is just a concept, then why not let this concept start with the first look?

Love, (agape, not eros)

Your asking the wrong group. In 1975 a beautiful stranger stole my heart and I pursued her until she accepted the fact that I was sincere.

We have had a wild ride and are as different as we can be but I wouldn't have it any other way.
