Re: If you won the lottery

All I would do is a full refit of my existing Morgan OI 41 and keep everything simple. Boats don't need to be complex to be comfortable. maybe a brand new engine and some sails but that's it. Bank the rest and sail for the rest of my life!

Dashew's FPB 73 with a sailing dinghy on the aft deck. I'd only sail for the pure enjoyment of it.... not because I need to get somewhere.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say. We'd go for an old boat appearance on the outside, and opulence the moment we open the door.

Re: If you won the lottery

The very rich don't "own" anything...just rent.

When you have too much money, "time" becomes the most valuable commodity. So no time is wasted on preparation, maintenance or mundane tasks. Working slobs can take care of that before you arrive. Renting is the way to go...live in the present and don't worry about anything else.

Also, new underpants every day.

Re: If you won the lottery

While I would keep my Nor'sea and finish the work on it, I'd probably commission a build of a Cape George 36 or 38 as well.

I recently read the J-Class "Endeavour" is for sale for 20.000.000 euros.

That will do nicely!

Re: If you won the lottery

If I won the lottery, in order:

1. I'd buy a bigger water tank
2. I'd add hot water
3. I would donate the remaining funds to feed every hungry man, woman & child in this country and help put an end to homelessness.

And no, I'm not kidding...

Re: If you won the lottery

I would buy a dozen Tanzer 22s, fix em up, stock em up, and give them to the homeless kids I see downtown. Then they would have a place to sleep, and maybe a future.

I would get new sails made for all the old boats that need new sails.

I'd sponsor all those young cruising couples on patreon, then maybe go visit them.

I would charter a fleet of sailboats to take kids with cancer out sailing.

I'd donate a ton of money to every sail training organization I could find...TBI, Brigantine Inc, etc...

I'd buy new lasers, windsurfers, and optis for all the summer camps around here.

I'd design (with help) a new affordable sailboat with electric drive for all those newbies who want to try sailing.

I'd build a marina for just sailboats, and charge very reasonable (low) rates...you would pay based on HP, not length.

I'd hire a good diesel mechanic to just walk the docks and help people with their engine troubles.

I'd invite all the homeless kids with Tanzer 22's to meet me at Main Duck Island for a bonfire and a singalong....and you could come too, my treat.

Re: If you won the lottery

Same boat, same husband, BUT the biggest snottiest heads in the world with dedicated showers and tubs and maybe even a sauna (and room for a pony for anyone who watches Britcoms),

Can you tell I am tired of pigmy heads with no shower, scads of hot water but poor drainage, little light and little air circulation. I love this boat, but boy I hate the heads.

I was daydreaming of a nice Hans Christian 42 Ketch, but have since seen this Vagabond. It's caught my fancy.
