Cost of Liveaboard Dockage?

Ive never been a big fan of living in marinas...the boats are so close together. I much prefer anchoring offshore a little ways. Its sort of like living in an apartment building vs living in a house set back from the road....I dunno...but I just enjoy the privacy.....oh and did I mention its free?

As for "utilities" Find someone who is renting a waterfront slip, so you can bring your dinghy in...$50
We use the water hose at their dock....$Free
We anchor close to a marina with unsecured Wifi...$Free
We run a Honda Generator E2000 Whisper for "right now power" Quiet and about $3.97 gives me 10 hours of power on eco mode.
The rest comes from the battery bank, sunshine and wind...

What else does a girl need? Hahahahaha

Marianas are not only charging high live a board rates (some $300.). They also charge for electricity and water. They site we use the facilities more. (Is that the rest room?) what stops any boat owner from coming to their boat and useing the (amenities ) every day if they so choose with out sleeping on their boat. These fees have gotten out of line.

Seems they should offer a meter for power rather than a per-foot rate. That would also account for load leveling from solar, etc. With our total conversion to PWM LED of total 60 lights operating all-on draws about 0.4 amps of 24 VDC. How much water can two old farts use? Add in a tiny microwave oven and a small sterio. Otherwise, the cost hit for two retirees on a 58 foot is the same as on a 29 footer. We'd just rather not feel like camping. The only serious users on a parked boat is AC and that is probably legitimate to the marina. Even the refrigeration is small.

It would be nice to have (an AP ?) to log the marina specifics, costs, locations so its easy for we cusomers to find.

I pay 1.5X standard marina fees plus whatever I use for electricity, and $15 for slipside pump-out. It's high, but all told the marine mortgage and the cost of the slip is still cheaper than a nice one bedroom. Plus, I get to live on a BOAT.

That is pretty cheap for Fl. We are under cover paying 550 including 30 amp for our 45 footer. Downtown location and less than a mile from the beach.
