Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

I am looking to find some Portlight Handles off an older Lewmar Ocean Portlight which were made between 1990 and 2000.

Re: Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

Unfortunately its not either of those. I actually called Lewmar, and they no longer appear to be making them, while they have a company that has started making some replacement parts for some of their hatches/portlights, these are not included. So I need to find a 1-2 pairs that are just lying around, or that can be salvaged.

You can see a picture of the handles here

or here if you scroll down and look at the Ocean Portlights

Re: Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

I have the same problem. I was going to just replace the whole portlight with a new one but after reading this thread I realized if you have the original engineering drawing of the handle you could probably print it using a 3D printer.

I just sent Lewmar a request for an engineering drawing of the handle. I suggested they publish drawings for all the parts they no longer stock.

If I get the drawing I'll either share it here if allowed or share instructions on how to obtain the drawing.

If I don't get the drawing I might ask my friends son who just completed his high school CAD class to try to draw one up. If it works I'll gladly share it here.

A company I work with just bought a new 3D printer that can print carbon fiber. They claim it's stronger than aluminum. They offered to make a replacement handle. It's going to take a few more weeks as they haven't received the printer yet. I'll post if it works out.

Re: Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

Thanks Rick that sounds hopeful! Did you get the original engineering drawing of the handle from Lewmar?

I didn't get the drawings from Lewmar. We're going to use an app that uses a Kinect camera to take a 3D image of a good handle. If it works I'll share the image.

Re: Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

I'm sorry to bring up an old thread, but I've been looking for a while for any spare or replacement options. Does anyone know if any progress was made on this? Thanks!

Re: Lewmar Ocean Portlight Handles

Have you contacted Lewmar? I bought some from them (6 or 8 years ago) directly; I think they came in lots of 8 or 10.
