Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup

[QUOTE=Pirate999;1524489 I may have another boat with me. We're discussing it now. If I do go, I may bring my daughter and a friend if hers. Haven't decided yet, or asked my daughter. If she doesn't go I'll be doing my usual single handing.[/QUOTE]

If you need crew I have an extra who wants to go but needs a berth. A woman who sailed in the Baltic once.

So if WE start from Offats, do you like my plan 1, ie Offats too TC dike, Kemah Clear Lake?

Thinking of staying overnight in Kemah Boardwalk Marina.

We cannot commit to anything due to ongoing medical issues, but if we are available, we will for sure join in whatever you all plan (provided we can with our 5' draft). We will be available all weekend and starting out from Clear Lake.

A far better alternative is Freeport to Galveston. At 40 miles jetty to jetty it's 10 hours if you do 4 knots. No bridge, deep water, Several ramps, etc. I've gone both ways out there several times. But may be too long for you guys.

Not that you're asking my opinion lol, I'm just bored.

Arrrgh.. we'll be in FL until the 22nd. We seem to miss this event every year!

Back from CA. Surgery seems to have fixed the issue, so we are hopeful we will be back to boating soon. I move Rain Dog May 3. Should arrive in Clear Lake May 4 if we go offshore or May 5 if we take the ditch. After the move we will be onboard 20 days a month. Looking forward to getting off land! We are both pretty miserable when we are not on the boat.

How many in this group are in North Texas and Texoma specifically? It would be nice to meet some new people and discuss options with the lake levels at all time lows.

Its also against the prevailing wind, which makes it even longer. Plus Freeport is even further from Austin.

She's in Austin, where I am

Another issue is we'll be hauling Frimi, the boat, down from Austin, launching in Offats and driving the trailer up to Clearlake to pickup on the other end, then in another vehicle driving back to the boat.

Where around Offats should we leave the car, and in Clear lake the truck & trailer?

If you're going from Offats to SLP THAT'S against the prevailing winds. But I'm not trying to change your mind, just offer alternatives.

In clear lake, you can leave your rig under the bridge on either side, typically the Seabrook side is busiest. If you're going to sail around in Clear Lake there's also the big park on NASA rd, very nice ramps.

That ramp in Galveston at offats has a history of break ins. I'd not leave a nice vehicle there. Is the yacht basin an option? It's pay to launch, but it's secure.

If you you average 4 knots, Offats to SLP to Galveston to Clear Lake is 17 hours.
