Wow, cool. Thanks.

And to think I've been kicked completely off a couple other forums...

I must have found one here with a bunch of like minded people...

except for those grouches who are already complaining....ha ha.

Pity your algorithms can't measure the quality of posts rather than the quantity.

Maybe next time he'll use a 'ReggaeRyithm' instead and you guys'll get the 'Sign of The Green Man' as well... I'm not keen on 'Algo' either...
Sorry bout the 'Low Quality Post'.... only just woke up...
But seriously... a big surprise to me... thought I was barely hanging in here by my fingernails with my irreverant posts... Cheers...

Did Google buy CF?

"and some other undisclosed metrics used in an algorithm "

Sadly, it sort of sounds like Google's methods of placement.

Time will tell.

Thank you Andy and the whole staff at Cruisers Forum! Your site has been a wonderful resource to me as I complete our refit and prepare to get "Out There" again. Some days here feel like a gam on the beach, while others feel like a cruiser has just anchored too close... just like real cruising! :-) I can't believe the negative posts on this thread. Talk about sour grapes... Who knows how the "Algo" works, or even if they're done with the first round. I'm honored, but I also know that I have a ton of "Thanks" PMs from helping others when I can, have offered parts and materials to fellow cruisers on this site, and have posted refit projects, pics, manuals and more to help other yacht owners along. I appreciate all that the owners and staff do on this forum, and have let them know it. I more than anything understand this site has been a FREE resource and meeting place for us all to share our cruising lives and dreams. I'm honored.

265 posts a month

Must be quantity in many cases and not quality.3178 posts in 12 months is some going.

Dear 2nd Class Member

Funnily enough I agree with you.

- seen similar elsewhere on Forums, ends up creating a them and us atmosphere. not so much from any resentment from the great unwashed but from the sense of importance and entitlement that some will gain from it. CF.com is (largely ) free from those stuck up there own backsides with an inflated sense of self importance (which IMO is one of the things / keys? to CF being welcoming to all, especially boat newbies).

Some people you can't give a stripe to. even an imaginary one. (and funnily enough not always affects the expected people).

Having said that, I would be happy to accept the pictures in my Signature (if I can be bothered to write another one!) and the PM box upgrade very useful .........now having the privilige of being part of the select few who can buy stuff from CF? - yer gotta be shittin' me! Sounds like the Readers Digest prize draw

A good idea to blame the Al-Gore-Rythmn But I would tweak it to rate long serving members who have posted (or simply logged in?) in the last year, even if overall not much posting going on..........either that or change the name badge to "Contributor" rather than "Supporter". or do both.

Overall I would make that category label a lot less visible - might just be me, but never comfortable when someone slaps a label on me.

I'm green with envy. Actually, anything you can do to enhance the site and keep it from becoming a commercial juggernaut I am all for. It's hard to see how anyone would see the green badge as cliqueish - seems like a good idea to me.

When you use the shotgun approach, a good post is bound to slip thru by accident.
