What about snail mail and money orders? Is that an option to avoid pay pal? I too am not fond of using them.

Re: Account Upgrades

We would love to join and support the site, but we have no pay pal account and have no need for pay pal for any other reason ! Seem as though a resonable payment solution could be found if theres this much dislike of useing Pay Pal for so many stated reasons ! If you want the money and the support from us there should be additional method of payment available !! Just a thought from folks who would love to join and be supporters !

Re: Account Upgrades

Since a fun problem with US Bank a few years back I only deal in cash or through my Credit Union. Since paypal was about 1/2 the problem I don't deal with them either.

Re: Account Upgrades

We are all moving to a cash-less society. I nodiced it the other day. I had 40 usd in my wallet the last month and haven't used it. It is all credit cards for the "frequent flyer" miles we get. But I still think he ought to take VISA.

Re: Account Upgrades

Newt, Paypal can be used to process a credit card transaction in the usual manner (with no requirement to have a paypal account).

Re: Account Upgrades

We've used PayPal for years with nothing but satisfactory results, both credit card and linked bank account. No problems ever! What's the problem?

Lately, I've been made glaringly aware of all the fees I pay to use plastic and virtual cash. Im slowly moving to paper and metal cash only. And I suspect alot more people fed up with the exorbitant banking fees may follow suit. Gas stations in Cali are charging you to use cc or even debit and my local shoe cobbler announced that he only accepts cash now because the fees are too much for him, and that he can't compete if he passes the fees onto his customers. We are planning to close our bank accounts and stay only with Navy Fed. A credit union. In fact im working on this now. What pain!

Re: Account Upgrades

Every once and a while we spend a half hour trying to upgrade but our information is kicked back and refused.
But we keep trying until we once again get frustrated like today and quit.

Hi all, just one more vote for ANY OTHER way to support this forum. As this site is an outlet for one of the most open and unique group of individuals, we should make it easy to support. The extra revenue will overcome any expense and help the community grow. Why would the powers that be not consider different payment options? I surely hope that one ego is not standing in the way of others. I for one will upgrade as soon as the announcement of alternatives to PayPal is received. Thank you for all the knowledge I have gained on this site.

Well said.
The best boating sites on the web have no membership fees and are thriving with advertising.

Trying to upgrade here just doesn't work for us. But we keep trying.
