OEM oil filter substitute

Hi,

I'm looking at installing a lub oil filter relocation kit on my Yanmar 4LH-HTE diesel.

DERALE - the kit supplier - has suggested a suitable kit from their range but the Yanmar oil filter is not listed on the compatible oil filter matrix for the recommended kit ( they list FRAM, AC, MOTORCRAFT and PUROLATOR).

Does anyone know where I could find Yanmar fliters cross-referenced against non-OEM oil filters?

The Yanmar filters I'm using are p/n 119005-35151.

I believe usually on these relocation kits, the filter used is a standard filter, maybe 3/4" threads? In other words Your not using your factory filter anymore, but that's a good thing in that now you can go to a much larger filter that is way more available.
I'm sure there are some kits that keep the filter the same, I'd bet the factory high dollar kits do.

I did it to my Yanmar 3gm30fw. The oil filter was horizontal and a mess to change. I switched to a kit that provided a larger filter. You can order custom made armored hoses and locate the filter wherever it's convenient. The kit provides the plate that covers the space of the original filter, so all you need to do is provide the hoses.

I suggest finding a Wix equivalent. Better quality than the above brands.

Unfortunately the OEM Yanmar filter has no details on it as to thread type etc. This is the reason I want to see if there is somewhere that cross-references other non-OEM filters as equivalents

You can tell thread pitch and diameter with a tap, or thread gauges, any machine shop can tell you exactly what you have in a matter of seconds, just take them a filter to measure.
Any place that makes hoses for farm tractors or construction equipment can build you exact length bullet proof hoses cheaply (Hydraulic hoses) That is better than the slip on and clamp hose.

Why not just take their recommendations, the kit supplier? Maybe I'm reading you wrong but only a few co.s make filters, searching for one labeled Yanmar probably comes from one of them and you pay premium when they paint Yanmar on it. I've gone the other way, trying to find a cross reference the other way to keep from spending an arm and a leg.

- UFI,
- WIX,
- Cummings.

They all have online catalogs that let you find most of other brands / specs.

That is Derale part number 15718? I have been looking for a kit and not finding one, but putting one together from Moroso parts and some AN hoses. More costly.
