Hi,

I need to pick up some OEM Westerbeke oil filters when we pass through Charleston, SC next week, can someone point me to a store that is likely to have them in stock?

Thanks,

Out of curiosity, why do you want filters that are re-branded to westerbeke?
Napa filters work just as well.

I prefer OEM. The engine has ALWAYS used Westerbeke OEM filters and it runs like a top with 3700 hours on it. No reason to change things now just to save $10 a year.

Re: Westerbeke OEM Oil Filters in Charleston, SC

I just removed a Westerbeke W30 and have a stock of oil and fuel filters I'm trying to get rid of. I never used the Westerbeke filter and only used Bosch 3402's a premium filter. I wouldn't be surprised if it's easily a better quality filter than whatever Westerbeke is rebranding as their own. They don't make any filters. So I have 9 Bosch oil filters and 4 fuel filters that fit the older style cav filter. I almost threw them out the other day. Free if ya want them, just pay the shipping. Not to dis your mechanical theory, but filter brand choice has had no effect on your well running engine. It wouldn't matter a bit to change it up and it's almost silly to strictly search out Westerbeke filters. Who knows what junk they use, now Bosch that's a nice filter. (German car nut) I tend to stay away from napa, fram, ect .. But as a mechanic of 20 years I assure you it doesn't matter a bit as long as you change the oil every 100 hours and maintain the other crucial parts. Somewhere I have a list that has the Westerbeke cross reference for 25 different brands, I just have a thing for Bosch. I just got a new 3YM30 and it will never see another yanmar filter once the factory one comes off. Quality Bosch filters for any Westerbeke owners up for grabs.

I was able to find the filters I was looking for. The City Marina here is affiliated with the City Boatyard, which happens to be a westerbeke dealer. I didn't even have to leave the marina.

Thanks for the advise about the filters... really... but I'll stick with what I know has worked for decades.
