Petition to keep cats in Olympics

I used to sail beach cats in Hong Kong and the club there recently sent out a mass emailing (I'm still on the list) concerning the fact that China had been peruaded to drop the catamaran competition. If you want to lend your support for cats in the Olympics, here's an online petition:

2012, not 2008

The controversy involves the 2012 games, not the China games next year. Nonetheless, this is a crazy idea. But because it's the 2012 games, this means there's more time for the right outcome to be recognized.

It sounds like this came about due to pressure to reduce the number of Olympic events. I'll vote to eliminate synchronized swimming.

Lets see... The Olympics has Curling, Star class sailboats, Ice dancing, Speed walking, Dressage and Badminton. ...and they eliminate catamarans? What are they smoking?
