Re: NEW 47? ok, nice, but what's the diff' ??

Oh well. I guess Singapore was uninhabited before aircon was invented.

And nobody went cruising, or lived on boats.

That's a puerile response. I can see why you quote John McEnroe😂😂

Some areas of the world have evolved past the caveman.

Re: NEW 47? ok, nice, but what's the diff' ??

Its very hard to sell a Catamaran without AC.

When we were selling our FP Mahe 36, EVERYONE asked if she had AC, EVERYONE.

We do not need AC in Newport, Rhode Island USA, but apparently everyone else needs AC

Lesson Learned: Buy a Catamaran with AC or suffer with low or no offers and long sell times.

Or is it puerile to call a luxury a necessity?

Again, billions of people currently live without aircon. Not long ago EVERYONE lived without aircon.

It's a luxury.

And it's actually sad to see our species has degenerated to the point where people would say it was a necessity.

Do these people ever go outdoors? Do they even know outdoors exists?

Ive been to both several times, regardless of the numbers Singapore trumps Florida when it comes to uncomfortable climate, no breeze , humid and hot, then you through in the Sumatra palm forest fires ( clearing)....joy.

We have sold 9 catamarans and only 3 had Ac. All but one, which had Ac, sold quickly. Most people who are able to afford a catamaran are also intelligent enough to realize it's an easy addition.

Not long ago people rode horses, hence a car is a luxury.

The problem with your argument is need is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone looks thru your eyes, hence judging others based on your needs is nothing short of troll-ish, the same behavior you point out to anti-multihullers all the time.

I have AC, I use AC, an internet troll is not going to change my mind. With that said, while at anchor I've never found the need to run AC all night long, maybe to cool the boat down during the peak heat of the day or after sunset, then I find nighttime breezes to be very comfortable. When playing dock queen, yeah we use AC.

Is this argument worth it?

Re: NEW 47? ok, nice, but what's the diff' ??

It's not troll'ish, it's the truth. People call wants needs all the time. I do it when I tell my partner I need a glass of wine, for example. We can delude ourselves that our wants are needs in order to justify them as much as we like but they're still wants.

Many people won't go cruising without a/c just as they may not go without a coffee machine. That doesn't make it a need. It's ok to want something and not go cruising without it. You're right in that this is a silly argument it's just that you're on the wrong side of it.

"Need is in the eye of the beholder."

We'll, I've seen it all now.

So if you really NEED air-conditioning, what happens when you go outside? (It's not air-conditioned out there) (GASP)

Do you die? Burst into flames or something?

Another opinion about what my NEEDS are. Please, I'll decide what my needs are, thank you for your opinion!

And yes, for you to suggest my needs based on your opinion is troll-ish.

But, that's just my opinion!

Maybe a definition is necessary...

Now that's not very nice. Disagreeing with someone is not trolling. One might think you were trolling for a reaction. You're very close to, if not already, breaking the forum rules with your trolling comments so why don't you pack it in, eh.

Hey, I don't care. You can call your wants whatever you want Self delusion is your right!

I guess down under dictionary is different from the real one.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/need

I don't see anywhere that the set of criteria used for determining a need is decided by others.

I could be missing it!

I call that blatant trolling of the first order.

You may want to believe that. I need you to realize that the down under version is the original and correct version, everything else is just a Northern Hemisphere construct.

You need to understand that down under is now up top. In this the era when South is the new North, what more proof could you want .
