Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Boat Angel is a charity and always has boats on eBay and always charges the $250.

Ditto on the (can't be) a 2006. Or can it?

Hey -- I'm top bidder right now at $50.71.

NO ONE ELSE BID! Thanks!

I've already apologized in advance to my wife in case I win. . . .

That Wharram reminds me of those "Meth ... not even once" PSAs.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Sorry, but that boat is my one-way ticket to the tropics. I'm prepared to go all the way to $200.

Seriously, that crab trap on the bow makes me think someone's been using it as a workboat, which could explain why it's so trashed.

I never heard it described quite that way, but it works for me.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Boy, I'd love to hear from the buyer about the boat's condition, and how much work/money wind up going into it to make it cruise-ready. He may have gotten a great deal . . . or maybe just a big hole in the water into which to throw money. . . .

There is no deal good enough to get me to buy a wharram.

However, that boat appeared to be fully rigged. There is probably about $5k in salvage on that boat, if the buyer has the ability to recover it.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Maybe not "cheap" given your market, but I thought this Kantola looked pretty good value given that this is a starting price.

This boat is located in Vastervik (Västervik) in Sweden. It has been on the hard for many years now (at least 7 yrs). I was in contact with Marstrom (Marström) catamarans who now owns it. They said I could buy this for almost nothing. Mast, bom, forward cross beam are missing. No sails.

The boat has had the world record non-stop around the world before.

85ft carbon fiber catamaran in Sweden
Launched : 1987
Type : Catamaran
Architect : Gilles Ollier
Shipyard : Multiplast
Length : 26.30 m (86 ft)
Width : 13.60 m (44 ft)
Displacement : 10.50 tons
Mast height : 31 m (101 ft)
Sails : 300 m² / 777 m²

Vessel name: Warta Polpharma, skippered by Roman Paszke for The Race.

Prevoius names:
Jet Service V, skippered by Serge Madec
Commodore Explorer, skippered by Bruno Peyron
Explorer, skippered by Bruno Peyron

I took a couple of photos last week. You can view them here:

I bet that's one of those things where the pictures just don't do it justice. 86 feet is a beast! Fun dreaming about putting a nice cabin area on top of that start and making a hell of a cruiser.

The 85 ft cat last named Warta polpharma, previously Commodore Explorer, and originally Jet Services V, was sold to Singapore in the first week of June according to Marstrom.
