I never heard it described quite that way, but it works for me.

I just realized that this (my) thread got over 1000 posts and 112,000 views so it must be worthwhile to some.

Here's a 1984 Searunner 37. The ad was in the Chicago CL but the tri is near Gulfport, Mississippi. He says make an offer. It needs TLC.

And that goofy homemade 40' aluminum cat in Texas that has been mentioned a couple of times is now down to $44,000.

What's the difference between a masochist and a sadist?

A masochist says beat me, beat me.

And the sadist says no.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I used to captain a Privilege 44 named TropiCat in charter in Belize. It was sold, cash deal, to a Colombian (IIRC). I was surprised recently to see it tied up in the derelict boat area in Shelter Bay Marina (Colon, Panama).

I've heard it was confiscated, allegedly as part of a drug bust.

She was a good boat in her day. Probably going cheap now, if you can resolve the paperwork issues.

That ad is now gone. I just tried to view it. Maybe they sold it.

Tropicat was busted next to us while we were in the San Blas (lots of helicopters, warships, etc). Friends of ours who were in Shelter Bay when it was towed in and hauled out say that it had been modified to have 6' long giant rudders stuffed with cocaine.

I always wondered why they were always anchored in the deep part of the anchorages...

Interesting. IIRC, the buyer paid about $50K cash deposit and then went AWOL for about a year. Then out of the blue showed up and paid the balance. Very suspicious deal. Seller was suspicious, but whose gonna walk from a full asking cash deal.

I've known several boats, whose stories have fallen together for me over a period of years...always interesting...maybe start a thread for posting of intersting boat histories....

....and now you know the rest of the story...

Sounds like quite a difficult engineering feat, kudos to whoever built it.

I imagine if you bought the boat a name and registration change would be high on the list.

Didn't even know they came in that size. Bid looks up to 50 but there's a 250 dollar paperwork fee.
