Lake Seminole FL to Gulf- can you sail it?

Is it possible to sail from Lake Seminole on the GA/FL border down to the gulf? What is the max draft?
I have a face to face interview (yea!) Sept. 12 for a position in Cairo GA and if I get the position will be purchasing a small (26-30') live aboard and keeping it on lake seminole in Bainbridge GA. It would be awesome if I could take it to the gulf once in a while but isn't a must have.
Does anyone have any experience sailing on Lake Seminole?

People go down the river all the time, but not sailing. I believe the river is deep enough but don't take my word for it.
People take boats every year from Lake Eufala and if memory serves they go through Seminole. Seminole is a shallow fishing lake full of stumps etc. Eufala would be a much better bet to keep a boat on

Just talked to someone that has done it a few times. I asked about depth he said 15' to 20' in the channel, but he is in a fishing boat that draws maybe 2' so verify the depth. There are a couple of locks and you come out at Apalachicola I think.
There is a group that does this every year, (from Lake Eufala) don't know if it's an event or just a bunch of locals.

a64pilot- I looked at St. Marks but didn't find a live aboard marina on line. If you know of one please share as I'd rather be on the gulf. The drive is no biggy as I've had much longer commutes and the location would be a big payoff.

Re: Lake Seminole FL to Gulf- can you sail it?

lars- thanks. I'm just trying to see if it's feasible to do a live aboard in Lake Seminole and still be able to get to the gulf for some sailing once a month (or more). Will be keeping the draft under 5' for sure- don't have the boat yet as I don't have the position that will make this a reality. Go for the face to face interview Sept 12 and hope that it will work out. Doing my prep work right now to see what my options are. I could find a marina on the gulf and do a 1+ hours communte but would prefer to do a daily commute of less than 20 minutes if possible.
