How else? Through the bulkhead door would be the answer on a full bulkhead. Most have removed the doors so there is just a double hatchway thru the two bulkheads

Like has been said on various websites, the later model Bristols were better. My boat , a 1974, has the two full bulkheads forward which support the hull.

Okay, most realize you go thru the hatchway/door to get to the V berth

Re: FREE, or close to free!

It looks like the boats with the 1/2 bulkhead would give you a bit more room forward, but I still like the double bulkhead setup.

That's my term though. The one forward is actually all fiberglass. It's directly under the mast

And speaking of room, besides my boat and a Cape Dory 22 (discussed on this thread earlier) all the rest of the boats in the boatyard are large or larger than 27'. Most appear to be nearer to 40' which has been mentioned on here quite a few times

That Cape Dory 22 was posted and I checked it out and it didn't look that great but the guy that bought it has painted the entire bottom and topside hull then built a hard dodger for it. He had a Bristol 27 in the past. The Cape Dory 22 has a well

Speaking of boats with outboards in the well, it appears to me that it would shorten their waterline when motoring as compared to boats with a bracket. My outboard is 18" or so aft of the stern. If the outboard was in the well, it would be maybe 3' more forward. Folks with powerboat used to extend their engine mounts for some reason. Anyone know for sure.

Thats pretty much just to have more deck space.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Avery nice looking CD 25, priced smartly. I've been seeing "needs TLC" CDs priced around 3K, without a motor.

Great example there, but the 25D version's what I'm looking for to get headroom in the cabin.

The extensions I see or aft of the stern. There's no added deck space.

I did a search and found this. Not sure how much it would apply to a sailboat with a 5hp outboard though.

The drawback is there is no way of knowing how recent/old the posting is. I suppose it's still on the website, but...

Thanks for the post! I try to look at all the "for sale" web sites, but have found a few don't expire old ads, and don't show the dates the ads were posted. I called about a boat listed on one... sailboat listings dot com I think, and was told by the person who answered the phone that the boat had been sold three years ago. Keep on posting what you find though! Sales are VERY slow and sometimes a boat can be for sale for several years.

In a power boat, that extension gets the motors away from the transom, adding floor space. (see the difference in the picture?)
Not all boats can have a "well: cut in them, so the transom mount is the way to go. I personally don't like the well setup, so I would opt for a transom bracket.

My boat can have a well, but I still like the bracket better.

You have one less hole in the boat and I'm thinking it may be a bit more efficient by creating a longer artificial waterline when motoring. With the bracket, my outboard is maybe 4' aft of where an outboard in the well would be

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Thomm225, thank you so much for the info, just yesterday i have begun closing on a Tahiti 33 1998 model boat. Sale price was less than $9k. Its a bit big for towing around but it does come with a trailer. Again, Thanks and have a great day!

No problem but how did I help?

I hope I didn't steer you wrong. Old boat buying can be a tricky business.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Not sure what "accepting all offers" actually means when theres no original asking price. Nice looking boat though.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Morgan 30 that looks like it's going for a pretty good price. Tiller boat, but in this $ range it's to be expected. (and not necessarily a bad thing)
