First 3 day cruise in new sailboat

We just bought a 1983 Beneteau First 38 (Moorings 39 version). This is our first boat, though we've had sailing classes and been out with friends many times for an afternoon. My husband and 3 other men (including the boat's previous owner, a veteran sailor) will sail from the boat's winter storage to our yacht club, a 3 day cruise. They plan to anchor out both nights. I am looking for suggestions -- what must be packed for a comfortable trip? what's easiest for food and drink? Hoping not to overlook anything essential!

Re: First 3 day cruise in new sailboat

From where to where may help, South Fl. will be different than way up North.
What we did on our first trip was to have food that you can cook, but also have enough sandwich food etc that doesn't require cooking in case weather doesn't play, I wasn't going to ask the wife to try to cook in 6' seas.
Three days you should be able to do without pretty much everything if you forget something. If I were going out again, I'd bring warmer clothes, I underestimated how cold it can get at 2am once the dew sets. Plan on being able to run at night, even if that's not the plan. No plan survives contact with the enemy
Bring weather gear">foul weather gear, even a Walmart raincoat is better than nothing, I brought hunting Goretex camouflage, may have looked silly, but it kept me warm and dry.
If down South, bring sunscreen and a good hat and sunglasses, long sleeve shirt too.

Oh, no bottled water, first it's wasteful and secondly it will generate too much trash

Beer.

Coupla cold McDonalds. Drunk men don't care.

Don't give them any money and tell them you'll have a slap-up dinner waiting on their arrival.

It'll only take 2 days

Easy dinner is burgers with onions sautéed with butter, goes well with both. My personal fast and easy favorite is Vigo Paella it comes pre-packaged, tastes very good and takes zero effort... May need to buy two packages to feed everyone.

Top either off with a decent appropriate wine.

FWIW unless you know the water tanks are clear, bring some bottled water

May I suggest either large jugs of bottled water or bottles of tap water as a compromise to the bottled water issue?

And don't forget lots of layers of clothes, preferably dry tech and/or wool.
