I don't see a category for: I know where it is, its easily accessible, but have never tried it.

Re: Emergency Tiller Poll

I didnt know we actually had a pole going. I just posted over on the abandoning ship thread that if there was a pole it should include" Fitted E tiller and found it to be next to useless". That would cover many production center cockpit boats. ___Just my 2 cents worth.____Grant.

Re: Emergency Tiller Poll

Yes I have an emergency tiller and it will work fine, but Cal 40s have a tiller to begin with.

Rudder, rudderhead, tiller bracket and tiller are the only components to my steering system. The rudder tube is a solid fiberglass tube glassed into the hull and cockpit sole, no bearings, no shaft seal.

Bloody hell. Just went down into the depths of the lazarette and found the damn thing... found lots of other crap not seen for years too.

It works!

Now what do I do with all the found crap?

Re: Emergency Tiller Poll

I'll bight(bite) . . .

Don't have one, but always thought I should have pindles(?), on the back of my boat which could aid in finding/making one, or have an extra rudder that fit out of the way . . . just in case.

I am officially recruiting a "Poll Poster" for me the next time I get a bright (or dull) idea!

I was trying to do a little good by getting folks to think...

"You know... I should check my E-tiller sometime soon..."

Good input on the other posts people!

Re: Emergency Tiller Poll

I know what it is, but do not have one.

Cal 2-27 has tiller and rudder meets in the middle through a fiberglass sleve starts on the cockpit floor and goes to the bottom of the hull.

I would like pintles for an emergency rudder, shaft and tiller, but that is sometime down the road....to many projects take priority before that one.
