Jobson should know, he was there on a spectator boat as an ABC analyst. In the final race he jumped to his feet and said, "Australia is catching her!" "Her" being Liberty, the US boat. Then the Aussies passed and the rest is history. Of course, back then, when they passed, it took several minutes or more.

I saw a Bay forecast that was calling for small craft warnings. Will they even race today?

I'm not encouraged. The wind speed is now 16 kts, and is following the forecast pretty tightly. Forecast shows around 24 kt gusts at 1:00PM, and getting higher until 4:00PM or so. Here's a link to the GG Bridge wind speed.

I have heard that if they can't race today, racing is possible for Thursday. Previous indications were that the course wouldn't be available again until the weekend.

I'm not much of a sports fan but this has me hooked like no other sports event ever.

Go USA! Keep the Cup here!

Who said catamarans cant maneuver quickly?

Planing upwind at almost 30 knots and sailing off the wind at 40 knots is my idea of excitement.

Please oh please never go back to monohulls. Just make these catamarans less expensive so more countries can compete and less prone to pitchpoling so they are a little safer.

Re: Best America's Cup series EVER!

Here's a really funny/painful fake interview with Team New Zealand's Dean Barker, titled Dean Barker admits he should've capsized the boat when he had the chance.

Before, I was not a fan. I drove out here since this is home anyway....

I sure am now! What an amazing contest! America's cup haters are just plain wrong, I sure was before this....

Wow, I don't think they should change a thing! I dislike multis as a rule, but there can simply not be a better platform for watching sailing! San Fransisco is the perfect venue, the biggest problem was figuring out which of the excellent view points to watch from!

I kept the faith even when we were down 8 to 3, I onh wish I had put a bunch of money down back then!

Congrats to the kiwis on a great race, that was the experience of a lifetime!

Having won an AC series that cannot possibly be bettered, Team Oracle should now change the rules to not only return to monohulls but insist on wooden hulls and spars, cotton sails, manila ropes and crew attire of jackets, ties and peaked caps.

Re: Best America's Cup series EVER!

From the first race that I saw I have been totally hooked. Ive raced cats, sailboards dinghy's & yachts but never seen anything so exciting.
The sailers were fantastic (should be as most were Kiwis or Aussies) the venue spectular and the TV & video coverage made you feel you were right in there with them.
The Kiwis were very unlucky with time running out in race 12? but Oracle did get better and faster as the series progressed so I think they thoroughly deserved the victory.
I will probably keep watching replays until the next series.
