There’s a lot going on in the world right now. I

. . .

The drama may be centred in Canada, but what is unfolding has repercussions for us all.

========================================

Today was reading the news and saw the headlines, these two articles caught my eye.

Also, the sudden love affair between Russia and China, a couple of days ago they announced a close cooperation and mutual interests ,kind of reminds me of the "close cooperation between Stalin and the Empire of Japan and Germany when the world was aflame, like around 1938?

One thing we humans know is to ignore history and past, that is why we can repeat the same mistakes again and again.

I do not know what all these events mean and I know will not be able to see the end of it, but just does not look good, truly worry about those that will have to deal with all this sh....t! sort of speak.

I do not like to dwell into the emergent fascist forces across the world, just looks scary.

And yes, it is a drama.

Well the cops are for sure not loved by the 4ft 10in great grandfather they roughed over the other day..
Ottawa police detained and brutalized a 78-year-old man identified as Gerry Charlebois on Monday for violating the ban imposed that day on honking car horns. Police appear in multiple videos twisting the elderly man’s arm around his back and shoving him into the side of a car.

Boating season doesn't really stop here. Personally I will start in April, when I will be doing lots of trolling, which will result in salmon in my freezer. I liveaboard 365.

Ah the Broughtons... some of my favourite places... I'd love to spend to winter there. How are things up there? Sointula/McNeiil pretty much open for business? We are tentative planning on coming up late May/June

Jealous, me... Although I love the east coast, for people like me the west coast is definitely more suited to our lifestyle.

In the meantime, I look forward to fresh Newfoundland cod. Not so much trolling, but longlineing. Of course, the best way to fish is to make friends with the locals.

Certainly fully open last Summer (2021, as of July)!

Maybe we'll see you up there. I expect we'll be heading further north (Smith Inlet holds very fond memories for me and we'll probably be heading up to Lax Kw'allams north of Rupert) but will probably re-provision in Port McNeill (best place on the coast to do so), stop in Alert Bay and Sointula, and swing through the Broughtons (I hope Billy Proctor is still doing well) before carrying on north.

Don't worry, the boat is mostly fiberglass and metal. A little wax, a little brightwork, and some scrubbing and she'll be like new. Fret not. I see a lot of boats that sit uncovered through winter, and none died.

Of course, I should remind you that if you'd left the boat in Miami, or at least Toronto, the season would start sooner.

OK, so off topic. Many moons ago my then-wife's cousin and boyfriend came to visit from Germany. They were so insistent and excited to see Canada- you know, the moose and stuff. So across the lake we went, all 65 miles to Kingston, and were they PO! As in fuming that they'd been jilted. They thought it would be snowing (in July) as soon as we hit the border, since it was, well, you know, Canada. Serious.
For quite a while after we switched to Celsius, American TV stations would show Canadian temperatures as they came across the wire - unconverted to Fahrenheit and without comment - so it might be 80 in Detroit and 27 in Windsor (which is actually south of Detroit). There were a great many people coming north in the summer with skis on the roof rack!

Funny how these easings of restrictions are right on schedule with what has been publicly posted by most of the provinces for months now.

Oh, but don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Yeah, right. Just about everybody expected that if the Omicron hospitalization rate started to dip in January, then restrictions would be eased. I made that same call myself here in CF in early January.

Takes a pretty brave and committed protester to demand an end to measures that were expected to come off soon anyway.

One of things making me crazy is here in Alberta both sides want to view it as "convoy-caused." One side to say "yea Freedom!" and the other to blame Kenney for caving.

I just wish we could have a little more reality in the world and a little less spin.
