Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece

Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece. A Steal at 26,000 Euros!

After a long and extensive search for a comfortable, well-equipped liveaboard that can also sail well, I purchased this Westerly Seahawk 34 at the end of October 2017, based on my own hands-on inspection and a day-long survey done by a highly respected British surveyor based in Lefkas, Greece.
I left the boat on the hard at the secure and well-managed Cleopatra boat yard at Preveza (a gateway to the Ionian and beyond, a true sailing paradise) and returned to my country of residence (Japan) with the intention of coming back to Greece in February, launching the boat and beginning my liveaboard adventure.
However, due to an unexpected and very serious health issue, I now have had to change my plans and am looking to quickly sell the boat. My loss can be your gain! (Such is life.)

Short description:
Westerly Seahawk 34 Center Cockpit. Built 1986. Comfortable multi-purpose cruiser of solid construction well suited for med cruising or longer distance blue water passages. Repowered in 2007 with Beta Marine 28 hp diesel engine. Standing rigging new May 2014, hull scraped and re-epoxied March 2015, new Lewmar winches 2016, sleeps 4 in 2 cabins plus 3 in saloon.

The 14-page survey report which describes all systems in detail and notes only minor issues to be fixed will be made available to persons seriously interested in buying the boat. A link to more photos will also be provided upon request.

Greek DEKPA cruising log stamped until April 2018

The vessel was originally British-flagged. I changed to a Dutch registration when I bought the vessel last October. All ownership documents, bill of sale etc. are available and in order. However, proof of VAT payment is NOT available. (For a vessel of this age, this normally should not present a problem.)

The vessel is currently fully insured with Pantaenius under my name. For buyers with residence in the EU, the policy could probably be taken over.

Because I will NOT be able to travel to Greece and personally handle the showing of the vessel and the actual transaction, I intend to use the services of the reputable yacht broker (with offices in Lefkas) through whom I bought the vessel. This will also enable payment through escrow. The brokerage costs will be borne by me.

Re: Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece

Nice looking boat!
Good job on the "for sale" ad up above too.

I like what I see in the interior photos and exterior too. And the newish Beta engine is a plus. The interior appears much nicer than most boats, and the canvas (topside) looks good too.

Friendly suggestion: Post more photos of the interior in this thread, if you have them. You can add more photos in a new posted comment (not in the top post). I suggest more of the saloon (other POV) and the aft cabin, if you have them.

With over 400 boats built on that hull ( Seahawk/Oceandream/Falcon/ Kestrel/ etc) yet another Westerly success story.

Sounds like a good price... a bargain for some lucky person.....

Re: Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece PRICE REDUCED

Additional information:

The boat has never been chartered, and has had only three previous owners.
Full paper trail available since new.

Since I posted the original listing at the beginning of this thread, I have had the following additional work done on the boat:
- New clears for sprayhood
- Complete renewal of toilet installation, including seacocks and piping
- General engine service including new primary and seconday fuel filters, bleed fuel system, engine oil change, gearbox oil change, trial run (on hard, with cooling water connection)
- New stern gland
Still to be done (at my cost):
- New batteries to be fitted

This means that "Roaming Free" will be close to turn-key condition, ready to go into the water whenever the new owner decides.

And on top of all that, I am lowering the price to 22,000 euros OBO!

The only reason for this low price is that I wish to sell the boat quickly, for private reasons.

Re: Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece

Yowieboy,

I am interested in viewing and buying the boat.
Can you please send me the details of where I can see it asap?
I live in Spain but would travel to see the boat. If everything is as you say, I would transfer the money immediately, as soon as papers are signed, of course.

My e-mail: jose@vicuna.es; my telephone ++34-609294515.

Or, if you send me a phone number, I can call you.

Regards
Jose

Re: Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece

Hello, Wolfgang:

Many thanks for the profuse information and detailed pictures you sent. I was able to check the proper records of maintenance and replacements you have kept and have the impression that your boat is a great offer, and that it is a pity that you can not benefit of the pleasure of the work done and of sailing the boat.
I was about to travel to Greece to view the boat, but then I got confronted in a definite manner by following unavoidable fact: after some discussions my wife, strict commander and experienced sailor, she said that if she is to sail with me (+ kid and dog) she requires a larger boat than the 34 Westerly.
And that brings an end to my move forward to purchase your boat.

Hence, repeating here the statement that I believe it a great offer for anyone interested in that size, I have to retire from my intent and wish you good luck and a quick sale.

Best wishes and best greetings to you and all.
Jose

Re: Westerly Seahawk 34 located in Greece

Hi Jose,
thanks for the kind words, and for considering my boat.
As many here also seem to have experienced, I guess the admiral's word is law...
Good luck with the eventual purchase!
