Westerbeke fuel pressure

Hi, anyone know what the rated fuel pressure (psi) is supposed to be on the Westerbeke electric fuel pump PN 037818? (4.5 KW BCG 60 HZ)
Thanks all

Re: Westerbeke fuel pressure

This doesn’t answer your question directly, but usually all Diesel lift pumps are low pressure pumps, very similar to the ones used for carburetors.
Like 5 PSI or so, but certainly less than 10.

Re: Westerbeke fuel pressure

Thanks a64pilot
I bought a facet pump that puts out 4 to 7 psi...
My westerbeke is a gasoline unit.
The best I can find in technical manuals says the factory pump is capable of 5 ft of lift... well.. that's fine.. so I'm stuck wondering if that's 5ft of water head... because gas weighs less.. anyhow.. I guess I'll try my new 4 to 7 psi unit and see if it floods the carb..

Westerbeke fuel pressure

If it does, there are many excellent fuel pressure regulators.
I used to use Holley ones, they have a big knob marked in PSI, usually turn it down to 1 or 2 PSI. That fills the carb, but doesn’t flood it.
Last time I used on was on my Son’s Suzuki Samurai, the stock carb was impossibly complex, the go to set up was a modified intake manifold with a Keihein carb meant for a Harley Davidson, but stock fuel pressure would flood it bad as it was meant to run with just the little gravity pressure. The Holley regulator worked perfectly.

Actually just looked and Holley has changed the design and it’s more expensive, the Mr. Gasket one looks like the old Holley.
