WANTED MOOR MASTHEAD UNIT

I have a MOOR CAPW wind gauge but the masthead unit is missing it's wind cups and it's plastic vane. I'm looking for any replacement that puts out digital speed and analog wind direction. I'm not sure if the wind speed sensor has to be digital it's just that the gauge has an lcd screen for that. I know that a nmea won't work so if any of you have or know of something that would work I would appreciate the info.

I was on the MOOR site and they have just the cups for $150 bucks(too expensive for my budget).

Thanks

Defender sells Moor products. although they don't stock what you want, you could email them with part numbers and ask for a price. Sometimes their special order prices are very good, sometimes not.

If your on a tight budget (sounds like you are) then my advice would be to forget the wind speed gauge altogether, you don't need them for sailing and they tend to be a high maintenance item.

Re: WANTED MOOR MASTHEAD UNIT

Thanks yeah I have not needed it it but i have most of the parts. Previous owner said sandy blew it apart. I'll keep looking for parts or a used masthead unit that is analog. Not on my priority list so in no hurry, I'm currently saving up for solar and my fall 2014 departure south. I'll be down to Farmingdale yacht salvage Thursday to look at another boat with a friend and hopefully might find some useful items there.

Well, aren't you the friendly one. BEG for a reply and get pissed off when you get one? (and don't know the difference between Defender and West Marine?)

Good luck with your scrounging. When MY wind unit dies, I won't bother replacing it. I have spit and a finger…

Re: WANTED MOOR MASTHEAD UNIT

My apologies, I am very friendly but it seems everyone states obvious places to buy new stuff. And because Defender had already been listed I put in WM as another expensive example.

And yes I am scrounging, so if anyone has parts i might be able to piece together please let me know.

Thanks

Re: WANTED MOOR MASTHEAD UNIT

Pwdrskr,

You might give BoatPartsFerret.com a try. You can search through the vendors manually or send a single inquiry email that will go out to multiple shops. Even though your item didn't turn up in the site search I did, somebody may have it. As you can imagine, it's not practical for each vendor to list every item they carry. (When I did a site search for wind gauges, a propeller shop in Wisconsin turned up that had the keywords "gauges and dash panels" in their list.)

Good luck,
NemoNC
