Waypoints not visible

After upgrading to 4.0 the first thing I notice is many of my local waypoints, which represent race marks, are not visible. They are present in Waypoints tab, Route and Mark Manager, and I can make them visible by toggling off the red "X" on each mark, however, next time I start up OpenCPN, they are all "X"d out again.

I am pretty sure that these were not created during the building of any route, they were established individually before being included in any routes, however they have all since been used in routes ("Do you want to use a nearby waypoint?").

I didn't notice this in 3.2.2. and at any rate, it is aggravating.

Any solution?

Wink Re: Waypoints not visible

More info on this question:

Downgrading to version 3.2.2 I can confirm that the marks do stay visible in that version even after shutting down and restarting OpenCPN, also after use in a route, making that route visible, and then making it invisible (yes, I am careful to respond "No" to the question about toggling the waypoints) the waypoints all still stay visible. This is GOOD!

I did notice that when I went back to 3.2.2, on initial start-up, none of these waypoints had any Icon showing on the waypoint list, and were not visible, and I needed to click on the icon to make the mark reappear the first time. After that , they seem to stay visible.

I hope this is a bug or an option, not a design change I have to live with.

Re: Waypoints not visible

Wingsail...

Can you post a snippet of your navobj.xml file which shows at least one of the waypoints that you are describing?
Looks like this:

Code:
 <wpt lat="24.141930759" lon="-76.462896558">
    <time>2015-02-06T09:30:42Z</time>
    <sym>triangle</sym>
    <type>WPT</type>
    <extensions>
      <opencpn:guid>1fb6cbb8-6e66-4c1a-a96f-05383793dda3</opencpn:guid>
      <opencpn:viz_name>1</opencpn:viz_name>
      <opencpn:arrival_radius>0.100</opencpn:arrival_radius>
      <opencpn:waypoint_range_rings visible="false" number="-1" step="-1" units="-1" colour="#FFFFFF" />
    </extensions>
  </wpt>
Thanks
Dave

Re: Waypoints not visible

This is a waypoint from the najobj.xml file after being created:

<wpt lat="20.700000000" lon="-105.433333333">
<time>2015-02-15T08:29:29Z</time>
<name>Test Mark set by Drop Mark Dialog</name>
<sym>triangle</sym>
<type>WPT</type>
<extensions>
<opencpn:guid>63ebffff-163c-41c9-a011-0b8a5b1cffff</opencpn:guid>
<opencpn:viz_name>1</opencpn:viz_name>
<opencpn:arrival_radius>0.050</opencpn:arrival_radius>
</extensions>
</wpt>

After being used in a route, it changes to this:

<rtept lat="20.700000000" lon="-105.433333333">
<time>2015-02-15T08:29:29Z</time>
<name>Test Mark set by Drop Mark Dialog</name>
<sym>triangle</sym>
<type>WPT</type>
<extensions>
<opencpn:guid>63ebffff-163c-41c9-a011-0b8a5b1cffff</opencpn:guid>
<opencpn:viz_name>1</opencpn:viz_name>
<opencpn:shared>1</opencpn:shared>
<opencpn:arrival_radius>0.050</opencpn:arrival_radius>
</extensions>
</rtept>

Re: Waypoints not visible

Further Information:

In 3.2.2 , a mark which was created by "drop Mark" then used in a route, then the route was made not visible contains the following line:
<opencpn:viz>1</opencpn:viz>

I don't see this line in the example from 4.0.0 (posted previously).

Can it be that the dialog "Do you want to toggle visibility..." in not putting this line in when the users responds "No"?

wingssail...
I suppose you hit FS#1672 : Shared waypoints attributes not handled correctly
It will be fixed in the next 4.0 maintenance release.
