Re: Tactics Plugin

HI thomas
Your pluggin is really nice
I hve tested the last one.
Color is ok . no more problem

Initialisation is ok without playing with option.

Only one probleme remains when you switch from your VDR (Sample 1) to mine the wind remains stuck and no way to make it move.
The only solution is to quit O and come back.

An other question
When Tacktic is off (not deasable but off) we continue to see the wind arrow, and the current arrows. I think it will be nice to have a contextual menu "show laylines" and "show wind and current" directly.
What do you think about that?

An other thing.
I think it will be better if O was proposing
as Own Ship, Display Option
COG prediction lenght (Min)
HDG prediction Lenght (Min) (based on STW) Rather than in NMI

What do you think about ?
I raise a feature request to O on that

Good job Thomas, It is on the track to be perfect.

All my best

Re: Tactics Plugin

FS#2099 - OPTION; OWN SHIP; HDG predictor LENGHT
logged to have a HDG predictor lenght in Min possible (instead of NMI) based on STW.

I thought about this already

It used to be like that in the past (and I loved it !).
I'm always sailing with 60 Min for my own COG prediction length and AIS targets. Very easy to compare speeds, and a good reference to your own boatspeed.
In the old versions of O when the HDG predictor was in [Min] you could easily see the speed difference btw. HDG and COG, if you had set it long enough (e.g. to 60 min).
But then it was changed ...

But yes, good idea, maybe we can have an option for the HDG prediction length to switch between [Min] and [Miles]...

Re: Tactics Plugin

opencpn.ini
OwnshipCOGPredictorMinutes=60
OwnshipCOGPredictorWidth=3
OwnshipHDTPredictorMiles=1

Probably easier to make your own Heading Predictor modifying O code.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi Tom, thx, that version would be the issue then probably. I'm no programmer - I got the file Tactics_pi.dll from ricks file thingy listed earlier in the thread. It's version 0.1!
Where can I download the latest version?
Thanks
Matt

Re: Tactics Plugin

Matt, Thomas has rights to update File thingie and is updating Tactics_pi.
Current version on thingie is Tactics_pi .4

Thomas,
I can appreciate the trouble getting wxformbuilder to work properly. Its a guessing game really.
The new Preferences menu should fit most conditions. As a next step, sometime perhaps you''ll have a chance to make the menu resizable and also remember the settings before shutdown so they are recalled.

I think what you've done will help Matt.

Thanks again for a great plugin..

Lepinard,
I cannot reproduce this.
can you please describe what you're doing in detail ?
Which heel setting when you play my file, do you change this when you switch to yours ?
All works fine for me, I can switch forth and back, with "fixed heel" and/or "use heel sensor", and your file still works fine, as long as you switch back to "fixed heel" and run the nmea converter plugin ...
I think I'm missing something ...

Thanks,

Thomas

Directory 4.2 PI Win

Thomas, has provided a fresh new version with the Option>Plugin>Preferences Icons working. The green puzzle icon in Toolbar needs to change, but the preferences window is not resizeable. Test this plugin out with the nmea files in this folder, then test some other nmea files of your own. To get good readings, you must have all the data needed! Thank you Thomas, for your great work! Awesome.

Also please test and try route_pi it has been enhanced and is much more user friendly, now supporting copy lat/long and paste. Also has right-click at cursor and pick Start Route (route_pi) or End Route (route_pi) and these values are entered automatically so you can create a Great Circle or Rhumbline. (no paste needed).
This plugin works with v4.2 forward. Thank you Walbert Schulpen for your fine coding!

Re: Tactics Plugin

Yep, I spent the weekend playing with the plugin. Works well. Thanks very much!
I've also changed my open cpn test machine to Linux mint. Any chance of a Linux version?
Thanks for the great work,
Matt

https://github.com/tom-r/OpenCPN/tre...ins/tactics_pi

Thomas has been locating it in his fork of opencpn right next to dashboard. He is thinking about separating it for standalone builds. Maybe you can build it for linux from his repository.
