Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Dave:

I too cannot seem to get the 09 GE plug-in to work. Have Beta OpenCPN version and the latest GE plugin version. I get a transparent GE window but cannot save that view as a jpg (or any other file type). I am trying to save a small portion of the CM93 file as a jpg but can't do that from main OpenCpn pgm so am trying with GE plugin. Can send logfile and config file.

Happy...
To replicate, you would need heading information sent to OpenCPN, from an el. compass.
GPS only will just send random COG at anchor.

I attach a NMEA capture, to be replayed and show the problem. But, OpenCPN 1609 doesn't like the current VDR plug-in...

I captured the stream with another program. The boat is pointing East, HDG is between 80 and 100.

I also attach the skewed NOAA chart. Remove the .doc extension.

For Dave, this is probably a whack a mole, we had it before....

Have you looked at Pjotrs #84 http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post920656?

If you like I ca test further and enter issues in the tracker.

Thanks Thomas for looking at the track issues!
And of course thanks Dave for the improvements!

Normally I'd be delighted to help investigate, but when afloat it is not so easy to dig harder...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Plugin users...
Try the VDR plugin build at https://github.com/downloads/nohal/O..._261609_pi.dll - fresh from my personal plugin folder, built this afternoon and locally working with 2.6.1609
The latest GE plugin build at https://github.com/downloads/nohal/O...i16_v09_pi.dll should also be OK and works for me with the latest GE 6.2.1.6014 (beta)
If either of them doesn't work for you, I really need to see the logfile to get a clue what could be wrong...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Thomas....

You are correct that #177 relates to pjotr's #103.

regarding his #84:

1: OpenGL on Vista just seems to be not working well. Pjotr and sailorF54 have trouble... Google "opengl vista problems" for an earfull.

I'm thinking about the problems, but cannot make too much progress without access to -very- similar hardware. The problems are not of first order in OCPN, since many other OCPN/Windows users can use OpenGL successfully. On the other hand, we may be able to work around questionable OpenGL installations on Vista if we only knew the exact failure mode. sigh...still thinking.

2: I don't know if this issues is new to 2.6, or longstanding. Seems like "split track" had been well tested.

3. Similar to above. New issue, or Feature Request?

I think both of these should go into FS, so they are not lost.

Regarding SART testing: I hope we are all not plagued by lots of meaningless SART testing when these thinks become more popular. I agree that we should not alert on MSG14 for SART tests. I suggest that they stay at the top of the AIS target list, however, since that will come to be where we expect to see SART targets. I am not adamant, however...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

I have just installed the new v. 1609 on a new Windows 7 desktop and can not find the recommended c:/ProgramData directory? Do I just create a new directory?

I am also having problems linking up the pc to my existing local network and when examining the system info I can find no COM: ports (none are shown in OCPN)

Connecting my GPS and AIS USB units do not generate the required drivers which creates the extra COM ports. Is Win7 so different from Vista?

Grateful for advice.

Tore

2 is new to 2.6, since first 2.6 Beta.
3 is new to 2.6 in that no trackpoint centering is done, the trackpoint is not highlighted since 2.5, but centering was there.

I am entering both into FS.

Dave,

The new toolbar redraw logic seems to work perfectly fine. Thank you.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

I just checked with another Win 7 PC and there is no COM: port section to be found.
Where can one find the names of the COM: ports installed?

I tried to create the seemingly missing ProgramData directory in C: but was told it already exists, but as a hidden file. How do you make it 'un-hidden' so as to enter/edit information?

When I tried using my AIS and GPS USB connections I got the message that the driver software was not installed. This should happen automatically when the USB is plugged in.

My problems have some relevance here as I am trying to install OpenCPN on a new PC with a new OS.

Please,anybody!!

Tore

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Tore, I see this on the forum often-win7 can be cranky with old "unapproved" hardware and drivers so google or a search here at CF are your friends, but get those administrative privileges first or you might not be able to install or see anything.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

LeaseOnLife....

Yep, the mole came back.
Killed again, for good I hope.

Anyone wants to build with a quick fix,

chcanv.cpp (5563)
Code:
-              icon_rad = ((icon_hdt + 90.) * PI / 180.) + GetVP().skew;
+              icon_rad = ((icon_hdt + 90.) * PI / 180.) + GetVP().rotation;

Dirk is correct. Only affects vessels with HDT or HDM NMEA data strings, or otherwise moving at less than 0.2 kts in a steady direction.

You may simulate and induce the problem by setting SOG to something like 0.1 kts.

This will be implemented in next Beta.

Enjoy
Dave

If "somebody" could build it, please! PM me if you want to send it via email, or post somewhere. I try to keep a clean user's environment, not keeping dlls, debug tools, etc, around, other users wouldn't have.
Thanks!
Dirk

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

Folks...

OK, I'm feeling pretty stupid at the moment.....

If you have the chance, will those interested have a look at
FS#754 : odd display of current arrows on CM93

I cannot find any rendered current arrows in any of my cm93 datasets.

Is it just me?

Thanks
Dave
