I would like to see the output from this command:
Code:
$sudo dpkg -i "name of package"
I'm also interested in any other relevant messages from your system.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Hi folks...

This is the last call for quick updates to language files for OpenCPN 2.5 Release.

Especially, we need translations of the following string from the Windows installer:

Code:
"OpenCPN is software libre. You are encouraged and legally entitled to copy, reinstall, modify, and redistribute this program for yourself and your friends under the terms of the GPL.
Smooth sailing!"
Please post these translations here, or send directly to Netsurfer (Gunther). We will take submissions until 1200GMT, 7/26/11 (Tuesday).

Thanks
Dave

We have Norwegian, Dutch, and German so far.

Help !!!
Thanks
Unfortunately, I have exactly the same problem (on Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit)

Yes, a user of the German community reported exactly the same problem.
He downloaded and installed twice so I guess it is not caused by a corrupted downloaded file. Maybe the uploaded file be corrupted (at opencpn.org)?

Oops. Sorry. Output is as follows:

Quote:
$sudo dpkg -i opencpn_2.4.720-1_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package opencpn.
(Reading database ... 183634 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking opencpn (from opencpn_2.4.720-1_i386.deb) ...
Setting up opencpn (2.4.720) ...
The program then runs (as far as I can tell) normally.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Thanks to all you developers etc etc. Used V2.3 this year for a cruise from Toronto to cape Race and back to Gaspe. No hitches except computer!! i like a pencil and paper CM93 showed me anchorages and harbours that were just a name on the paper and other electronic charts. OCPN has to be the best program out there and can't wait for the New version! Well,,, I guess I have to. Thanks again for all the hard work!!!

??? What's the problem then?
When do you run into problems if the installation works?
Your output shows that the program installed OK

Hello. The Italian tanslation for the above sting is:

Code:
"OpenCPN è un software libero. Sei incoraggiato, ed hai legalmente diritto, a copiare, installare, modificare e ridistribuire questo programma per te e per i tuoi amici nei termini della licenza GPL.
Buon Vento!"
Ciao, Marco.
