Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Steffenp....

Made a small change to plugins/grib_pi/CMakeLists.txt to force linkage of bz2 library.

Would you please check this out before I commit?

Thanks
Dave

Hi , here proposed French translation :

"OpenCpn est un logiciel libre . Vous êtes encouragés et légalement autorisés à copier , réinstaller , modifier et redistribuer ce programme , pour vous-même et vos amis , selon les termes de la licence GPL .
Bonnes navigations"

Reports appreciated!
got a positive feedback for this version - installs and works without any issues!

Gunther

PS: What does this mean for the upcoming version 2.5? Will there be a separate Linux version for Ubuntu 11.04?

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Dave,

works, only tested on opensuse 11.4 but he others should work to.

One other thing I found in the logs:
"OpenCPN: W: incorrect-fsf-address /usr/share/opencpn/license.txt The Free Software Foundation address in this file seems to be outdated or misspelled. Ask upstream to update the address, or if this is a license file, possibly the entire file with a new copy available from the FSF."

Gunther....

We will need to host separate 32 and 64 bit flavors of the .deb package, of course. I will build and upload the 32 bit deb to sourceforge. I suggest that we host the 64 bit flavor on opencpn.org, with appropriate notes on the download page.

I suppose Thomas can build the 64 bit .deb?

we actually have separate versions for 32/64 bit build by Thomas:
Download OpenCPN 2.4.720 for 32 bit Ubuntu 10.04 ->
Download OpenCPN 2.4.720 for 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 ->

But my question is, if there will be additional (different) versions for Ubuntu 11.04?
As you know I am a Noob about Linux - just asked, as there seems to be a problem with the above versions on Ubuntu 11.04. Only the other version Thomas uploaded seems to install without problems on 11.04.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Gunther....

IIRC, the 32 bit .deb built by Thomas did not work right on 11.04. So, I built a generic 32 bit deb on Ubuntu 8.04, uploaded to .org site, and Thomas adjusted the link. This is the one that works.

So, the 32 bit .deb is OK for all Ubuntu versions.

Everybody agree?

Dave

The present situation regarding 32 bits 720:
The link on opencpn.org is built on Ubuntu 10.04 and seems to cause problems for 11.04 users.
The link earlier in this thread, is built on 10.10 (after the update of Ubuntus C library) and seems to work for 11.04.
We have had problems with debs built on 10.10, for users on earlier versions, this was the reason to build on 10.04 this time.
Perhaps we need two versions , one built on 10.10 + yours built on 8.04.
To test this, can you give a link to your built on 8.04?
It would be good if users who have had problems tests Dave's version.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Hi there....

OK, nearly ready to Release. I have uploaded the Release files to sourceforge, but have not yet marked them for "current download".

Before I pull the trigger, lets have one more smoke test.
If you have the time, please navigate to

OpenCPN - Browse /opencpn/2.5.0 at SourceForge.net

and try some downloads of the images you will find there. These are the Real Things!

I'd like to turn them on tonight, and announce tomorrow.

Thanks again
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

Dave...
Just tried the following upgrades with the SF packages:
Win 7: 2.4.720 -> 2.5.0
Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit: 2.4.720 -> 2.5.0
Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit: 2.4.412 -> 2.5.0

All went smoothly.

Just one thing left: Did you here from SethDart lately? We should either update the logbook plugin to the latest git code to have a version working with 2.5.0 or temporarily remove it from PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Have a look at Plugins | OpenCPN.de
This version should work with 2.5.0!
Feel free to link to it from opencpn.org if you like.

Installation on Windows 7 went fine. However, wrong language for date/month text in tidal window (OpenCPN set to Dutch language).

Edit: Problem solved after restart of application.

Hello Gunther, I run the 2.5.0 version, try the GPS with bluetooth and the AIS reception and things seems allright with windows 7 on a new Dell computer. One thing needs to be done is the scaling of the vessel to proper scale dimention. I had already noted that to bdbcat.
Regards.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Release Candidate 720

why not use a buildservice for build and host the different versions?

That is what I am using for my Opensuse Builds (4 distris and 2 architectures). The Opensuse Build Service is able to build for debian and ubuntu to. But my knowledge of packaging for those is not good enough.

One big advantage is the distribution of updates.
