Opencpn no chart downloader on mackbook pro

I have never used Opencpn before but decided to give it a try this morning so if I’m asking something simple please don’t kill me. I have just downloaded the opencpn 5.0 and went to try and download some charts but do not have the chart downloader tab. I have tried to google and most info is for windows based units and older. Does anyone have an idea how to get the tab? Thanks

It’s os x 10.9.5 which the specs called for 10.7 or better so read that as being good to go?

When you look into your logfile, there will be a line like

17:54:09 -03: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: /Applications/OpenCPN.app/Contents/PlugIns/libchartdldr_pi.dylib

followed by an error message saying why libchartdldr_pi.dylib can't be loaded, please post that error message here.

I also am experiencing the same issue. However, this only occurred after I updated to the 5.0 version. When I tried to download the new chart downloader plugin, I was referred to the Opencpn site. After locating the plugin download, I also noticed a “not available for Mac” message. If anyone has helpful information regarding plugins for the 5.0 for Mac, I’m certain it will be both helpful and appreciated.

I will be able to work it around for the next release by including a custom build of libarchive.

But is there really a reason to run system not getting even security updates since 2016 on a machine perfectly good for High Sierra?

Probably not although I am not sure I can get that. I ck for updates available and it always says as it did today “none available “

Well tried but it seems apple has stopped the ability to download High Sierra.
