Re: OpenCPN General

on your keypad near the top should be a button called "Prtsc" means print screen copy.

then open windows paint and right click for paste.

Re: OpenCPN General

Linux version of Opencpn has a very handy Screen saver command. If it were possible, a similar command for windows might help in these instances.

Re: OpenCPN General

Tracker and Opencpn.org seems to be offline and not working right now. Jean Pierre also noticed this.

Re: OpenCPN General

Hmm installed the Climatology plugin today, most excellent plugin and probably the only one to use ;-)
Only hiccup is in the Linux install notes:
currently reads: sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/opencpn/climatology/data
Should be: sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/opencpn/plugins/climatology/data
step 2 currently reads: sudo 7z e -o/usr/share/opencpn/climatology/data CL-DATA-6.7z
should be: sudo 7z e -o/usr/share/opencpn/pluginsclimatology/data CL-DATA-6.7z
Besides that all is good as you can see :-)

Installing plugins:

Hi everyone

updated the "expired" plugins today on my linux 13.04 beta opencpn "test box".

seems my default directory is /usr/local/lib/OpenCPN for plugin files.

supporting documents /usr/local/share/opencpn/...

easiest way to find where these directories was located was to look at the log file /home/userid/opencpn.log

hope this can help folks looking for the directories...

I agree I also just added the Climatology plugin and it is outstanding. Will not be using pilot charts again.

Thanks, it really is a great plugin. Sean is a real whiz and does many plugins for Opencpn. NOTE to others: Don't forget to follow instructions for the DATA directory!

I will change the install notes for Climatology, on the Opencpn Beta -File thingie referenced above, but Pavel (Nohal) will have to make the same change on the sourceforge download website too! I hope he has updated the current files to be the averages from 1992-2012, which was a recent improvement. (I know those updated data files are on Opencpn Beta File thingis.)

Re: OpenCPN General

If you like the plugin, give Sean a big boost on his voyage around the world in his Bristol 27, and send him a donation from the plugin. I am sure he would really appreciate it (I believe his resources are very low), although he really wants Opencpn to be the finest Nav software available (and has done a great deal in that respect). I think he is too shy to ask directly, so as soon as I spotted that button, I sent him a donation because this plugin (and others) were exactly what I though I needed.

(This comment would also apply in spades to donations to the main program!)

I recommend you use the Snagit program to capture, with one click of a designated key, and automatically place in a designated folder an image (in any of many formats) of what was appearing on the screen when you clicked the key.

Such as this image I produced by clicking my designated key, F2.

It does much more than screen captures.

Re: OpenCPN General

In Windows cntrl+printscreen to save an image of the program with focus to the clipboard. Then use Gimp2 (or another program) and edit paste the image into Gimp2.
Then save as a jpg or png.

Linux Opencpn has a very useful screen saver button.
