Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

I just tried the logbook (0.915) with OCPN (2.6.1524), it worked nice till i edited a template (Label_Boat and Equipment.odt) change the boat image and save it with a new name. Now i get the attached error when i try to view it again in ODT format, there is no error in HTML.
In english the error says :
reading error
format error in the file of the subdocument content.xml at position 12,2716 (row, col).

I get the same error when i try to view the original template and all the templates regarding "boat" but the Label_Eqipment Only.

Can you help ?

Best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Zorg,

i'm sorry that i doesn't work and i'll do my best to correct the bug.
i made a few tests, but i cannot reproduce the bug.

what program do you use to edit the template ?
can you please upload the not working files ? (the layouts you created)
Did you store the new created layout with a new name ?
e.g. My_layout.odt

if you have stored the new layout with the same name the original
layout template is overwritten.
to get the original templates back run the plugin-installer again.
(LogbookKonni-0_915Setup.exe)

i can tell you more, when your odt-files are uploaded.

best reagrds,
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Thanks for answering Konni,

I done the following :
- edit (E button) the original .odt file,
- the file opens in open office 3 writer
- suppress the Catalina image
- save under new name -> file joined (.odt renamed in .doc)

Till this moment the original and new file can be both Edited but not viewed in ODT (no problem with HTML).
All templates regarding boat cannot be viewed but "eqipment only", in crew, there is no viewing problem.

Regards
Zorg

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Zorg,

i think you saved the file in doc-format not in odt-format.

to change the image follow these steps:

  1. select the layout in the dropdown-box
  2. hit the edit button
  3. check in the dialog 'edit layout' is preselected
  4. click ok
  5. in openoffice/libreoffice select "save as" (Important !) and fill in a new name (e.g. My_layout.odt), make sure that the datatype ODT is selected
  6. click in the logbook-plugin the reload-button
  7. select My_layout in the dropdown-box
  8. in openoffice/libreoffice select and delete the image
  9. insert your image (see BackImage)
  10. place it in the background and modify the size (see BackImage1/2)
  11. click the save button
  12. click in the logbook-plugin the view-button
please let me know if it works now.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I am sure the new saved file was in .odt, i just rename it to join it because .odt is not uploadable.

But anyway, i did exactly what you asked me to do and the result is the same. New file joined renamed in .doc again.

I am afraid that when the error came one time, it will be forever since completly de-installing the plugin and opencpn and re-install in a new folder, i tried it yesterday, it worked again till i edit the template and it's gone for the viewing error

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

i renamed your files to odt and as you can see in the attached
image they are viewable (the first file you send also).
no error occurs with OO (3.3) and LibreOffice.

i wish i could help you, but slowly i run out of ideas.

give me a bit time

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

As you could view my file i suspected my oo 3.3 install, so i supress it and load/install a new one and get always the same problem.
But don't worry to much about it, i'll use HTML instead of ODT.

Regards,
Zorg

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Gilletarom,

your file is uploaded to GitHub.
in the upcomming 0.917 it'll be in the windows-installer, too.

BTW you are the right man to help me finding a bug, because
you have a complete frensh OS environment.

if you follow the instructions in post #215, do you have the same problem like Zork posted ?
If you download and install the file (post #216) in ODTLayouts/Boat (rename doc to odt), can you display it by clicking the View-button ?
in case you get a error like Zorg, can you send me your file 'boat.odt' (it's created in the data directory) ?

this would be very helpful. i know my program and if i test the plugin
i always use the same steps and get the correct result.
when i can't reproduce the bug it's like wandering in the dark.

best regards,
konni

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Konni,

I use W7 family edition premium on a PIII processor based laptop.

I joined my file boat.odt (renamed in .doc), by the way i tried to double-click on it to open with OO3.3 and get the opening message errror ...

I installed open cpn and your plugin on an other pc (W7 too) and cannot reproduce the problem ...

Zorg

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello Zork,

to understand clear, only the PIII makes trouble ?

the file boat.odt doesn't open here in OO and Libreoffice, too.
i compare now this file with a working boat.odt.

this takes a bit time
