info' about antenna
Hello!
My antenna broke down (Orbit 7108) and i need to replace it with a new one. In general, I was highly satisfied with Orbit's service and features, but since we're talking about investing approx. 80-100K US$ I consider replacing the lot and get a whole new set. Thus, if there is a model (/company) you use and can recommend I would be more than glad to hear about it. The only other company I have heard of is SeaTel (and Orbit). If you are aware of other alternatives (heard of Thrane???) please let me know. ThanX in advance, Edward |

Not many of us would have any experience with a 2,500 lb (98" dia.) antenna.

I don't have one on my boat either but I'd like to have the money to have a boat large enough to put one on. Then I'd go a bit smaller with trac III and a sat phone.

Had mine blow off the masthead in the last thunderstorm so I can't help either.

That's one hell of an antenna. I'm still debating about whether or not to get anything more than a VHF. :-)

Thank you all for helping,
I think I slipped a piece of information... The antenna is for my privately owned 4,800 TEU Panamax Containership. Does anyone have any experiance with Seatel 6006 (or 4006)? Ed. |
