No other languages but this song could go both ways. It could also be played for the person telling you to get off their ocean

A few comments.

First, many if not most members of this forum are well aware of the issue and if you spend just a minute or so using the forum search function you will find several previous discussions, some many pages long, on this exact issue.

If you read the previous threads on this you will find it's a common problem and common annoyance among cruisers. It's happened to me a few times. Once in an anchorage about a mile long, the whole area equally good holding and protection. I was the only boat there when another boat came in and anchored less than 100 M away. There is a lot of speculation on the whys and wherefores of the phenomenon but the reasons are moot when you have someone drop a hook immediately next to your boat.

Second, the two posters you flamed are I know, well aware of this issue and are definitely NOT part of the problem. Spend another minute or two to look at their history on the forum.

Finally, you might get a better reception if you phrased your post, shall I say, with a bit more tact.

Re: A sincere request

As long as we are a safe distance away, if you don't want to be near us, you are free to move somewhere else.

I'm under no requirement to move "AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE". When you park in the best location, hardly surprising when others also want to park in the better part of the anchorage.

Re: A sincere request

Where did I put that list of the world's loneliest anchorages anyway? I'd bet offseason helps too.

Mr Bucknole could use a good editor, the grammar, spelling mistakes and mondegreens were very distracting.

Same thing on the freeway, no one for miles and then for no reason some numb nutz will come up behind you and stay there no matter how fast or slow you go to get rid of them.

As long as they're not riding your rear too closely, why would that bother you?

You weren't driving in the farthest left lane, by any chance?

Re: A sincere request

I just can't shake the image of a grumpy old man sitting in his cockpit with a garden hose, spraying passing boats.

"Dammit! You kids get out of my anchorage!"

I thought about including that right after I sent it. Nope, I’m almost a fanatical right laner.
The point I was trying to make is referencing the “herd instinct”. It seems a large part of the population prefer to group up rather than seek their own space.
