One thing that will help you to conceptualize the concepts is a globe. When you can actually look at a physical spherical representation of the Earth and hold another sphere an arms length away to represent the sun or moon or other body, things like GHA, SHA, LHA, Ho, Zenith Distance, etc become clear much more easily. It will also help you in getting your head around Great Circle vs Rhumb Line sailing, and other things.
