What Glue for the Rub Rail on hypalon ?

I have a West Marine (Avon) 280 Hypalon inflatable and the rubber rub rail has come off. Anyone know if I can use 3M 4000UV to glue it back on? The existing glue looks like the hypalon contact cement and it is not UV resistant (all brittle and dried up). Or any other recommendation for an adhesive.

Ask West Marine... they get it wrong... claim a new dinghy...

The Weaver Snap Davit folks sell a good Hypalon adhesive. Take a look here: Weaver Industries, Inc.: Adhesives

It is used to attach their davit lifting points to inflatables. You want to use a two part contact adhesive. I don't think UV could have caused your problem. The adhesive is shielded from the UV by the thick rubrail. It seems that the glue on all inflatables fails sometime. I have a twenty year old Avon that is in good shape but the glue is starting to show signs of failure. I'll get a few more years out of it with Weaver's glue.

We use SC2000 two part adhesive. Great stuff and it has a 4 year shelf life.
It's used for repair of all things rubber and such.

When we bought some in the '90's, the instructions detailed how to repair a conveyer belt.

The stuff we purchased from West Marine was dead when first opened after 6 months.

I have some patch adhesive that is not two part. I don't think it will work. I'll look into the two part adhesives. Thanks.
