Good day to all,
I am looking for other Prout owners who might wish to replace their rubber insert on their factory rub rail. The
aluminum rail and insert are out of production but there is a place that will make new insert but they will only do it at a minimum run. In one e-mail he talked about a 100 foot run but in a subsequent e-mail after talking to the extruder folks a 500 foot run was the minimum. 500 feet is just a bit too much for my 37 snow goose. I am looking for anyone who might be interested in replacing their insert to go in with me to have a production run. The fallowing is the return I got to my original request.
Hi Gary,
I believe that insert has been out of production for years. I
had to customize a whole new rail for a Prout 45 for that reason
(although the
aluminum has long been out of production & the
aluminum on that
boat was badly damaged). If I could get to the
boat, I could see if I can make anything
work. I'm in
Florida. I
could also make a copy out of rubber. With a sample piece I can
get a
price. My guess would be in the ball park of $4/ft. If I
can't find an existing die close enough, there is a $175
additional set-up charge. Minimum run is 100'. I'm in Ft.
Lauderdale but travel regularly from the Keys to Daytona, across
to Tampa/St. Pete & down that coast to back home. Thanks for

Any way what ever the run I thought there must be others out there who might be interested in acquiring a new insert. If you are interested please contact me at

Below is what I’m looking for. If any one has found something that works in place the original please contact me too. Thanks
