ALL our boats....how many do you have?

Micro Monkey Fist.

This started as a Turks Head gone wrong. As I took it off the form the weave was still too loose and it was collapsing so I just kept snugging it up...and up end with this.

"Have had".

We don't even have a whole boat at the moment. Getting withdrawal symptoms .

That is cool!

I am finding small projects using fine cord are a good way of practicing. They are easy on the hands, use little materials, and are much quicker. The skills can easily be transferred to bigger things. The first Turks Heads I made on a mandrel had far too many leads. Each mistake meant lots of unravelling.

To see if I really had the hang of the Prolonged weave I used the leftover 2mm cord to make a mini one. Making it two ply instead of four does actually halve the size. I will wait and see if I can pick up any remnants cheaply before making a proper mat:

VERY cool, especially the "trick" so that you needn't pass the standing part through. Thanks for sharing it.

Just a heads up for those putting Turk's Heads on tillers. I dearly do love the knot, it's my FAV. But on a tiller, it picks up a lot of dirt & grim, due to the amount of hands on time it gets. So think about what you may wish to coat the knot work with when it's finished. Especially if it's made using white, or light colored cordage. And if anyone has any wise tips to share on this, I'd surely love to hear them.
