Confessions of a Boat Owner

Hi my name is Bill and I used to be a power boat owner. Actually not quite yet, I'm still working on the transition. As I feel the need to greater and greater distances, and the price of fuel goes ever higher. At some point dropping money into the "iron genny" just to move becomes less practical as the wind is free, especially when its going somewhat the same way you are. I will have to make some adjustments, I.E. 1/3 -1/4 the speed, worring about bridges, which way the wind is blowing, (other than in my face). How much food and water is aboard, instead of how far is the next fuel dock. Using a sextant for something other than a paperweight. Days to reach destinations instead of hours. Carefull power budgeting, instead of deciding should I run 1 A/C or two, is there enough hot water left to run a bath? It will be an exciting time, and I have exciting plans. Hopefully I will be able to make it work.

Half the fun is the journey.

Took me a long time to figure that one out!
