Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Harmonix file: see attachment. I added ".pdf" to the zip file.

When removing the o-charts flatpak still crashes on the tidal dialog.
(I disabled the plugin and removed the directories in the...

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

First I had a problem with tidal information on an earlier beta release (laptop, Linux, Ubuntu 21.04).

OpenCPN-version something like 5.5.9xx.y.
With the upgrade to 5.5.1109.x I still had the...

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Now the crash also works under Ubuntu 21.04 with Flatpak.

The error I see:
$ opencpn
Gtk-Message: 13:54:49.449: Failed to load module "appmenu-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 13:54:49.450: Failed...

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

The problem is one faulty icon.
I haven't saved the dialog image from before, but what you see is basically the oesenc-plugin causing this (similar as the image AISEAG posted for tactics, included...

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Sorry for the late update.

The problem with the tides I reported in an earlier version is still present in Ubuntu 21.04/x86. I expect some library incompatibility between versions. I will check if...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

I tried Den Helder (NL), Schiermonnikoog (NL) and Helgoland (GER). Therefore it seems every station.
Even with another harmonix data set it crashes.

I will try to install Focal this weekend,...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

I came upon a small error when trying to use tidal data:
I right-click on the tidal symbol and opencpn crashes imediately.

Nothing of interest to be found in the log, only hint was a few lines at...

Re: OpenCPN version: hirsute ?

Try libwxgtk3.0-gtk3-0v5

With Focal (and Hirsute) the gtk2 library is obsolete.
This means you'll have to at least install the Focal version of OpenCPN (Ubuntu 20.04) and the corresponding...

Re: Missing SGLock Dongle Support Library?

The opencpn-sglock-amd64 package is not needed with OpenCPN 5.2.4!

For Debian/*buntu the pluginmanager installs the sglock-library and the plugin.
Here an extra libusb-0.1-4 package is needed...

Re: US RNCs fail to find catalog

I must apologize, I read over the part that states it is about MacOS.

It is not for me to advise you on Apple. I'm sure you know more about Apple and extended attibutes (xattr) than me. I hope...

Re: US RNCs fail to find catalog

You give very few clues:
- it does not work with the permissions set to 600
- it works after renaming

What was the old name?
What is the new name?
Who is the owner of the files?
Have the...

Re: Pi4 64 bit Rasbian and dependent files....

Just to show the finesse is in the detail:
Upon rereading I saw the change should be [ arch = arm64 ]
(see https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO)

Re: Pi4 64 bit Rasbian and dependent files....

You could try this to change the line in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/opencpn*.list:

old
deb https://ppa.launchpad.net/opencpn/opencpn/ubuntu bionic mainnew
deb [arch-arm64]...

There was something with 'User Standard'+ all items was not...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Since someone pointed me to it I found a strange problem:
There is no stable release of OpenCPN for many Linux systems.

In the OpenCPN PPA there is no 5.0.0 version anymore, but for most...

Re: Show depth in shallow waters in vector charts

What pinguino wrote is totally correct.

Below is a chart with setting 3m/6m/10m and the same chart with depth setting 1m/3m/6m. Detail here is the tidal difference here is about 2m. This means the...

Re: USB key dongle for oeSENC

With the release of OpenCPN I retested the RPI4. It seems that I overlooked something before, most probably the dependency on libusb-0.1 (the udev rule was certainly present).

I thought I tested...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.708 RC2 Test

Just for my information:

Unplugging USB and reconnecting has the danger of changing the connection name.
I think that is a problem beyond OpenCPN.

Should there be an instruction to use...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Please upgrade you OpenCPN, that specific problem should have been solved in 5.1.704.3 (late last night).

After installing you will see:
/etc/udev/rules.d/98-sglock-ocpn.rules
That file should...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Both seem viable options to me.

When you think about it, you will have to include one point in the scenario: When switching between oesenc-pi (PPA) and oesencpi (github) I needed to de-install...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

@bram
Your problem: you need rights for the USB device.
To get the rights, you need the udev rule.
To write the udev rule you need (temporary) admin rights.

With the old method of installing...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

@bram I suspect something went wrong with the USB key initialization.

Does ''~/.local/bin/oeserverd -s'' yield 0 or 1?
Do you have a file /etc/udev/rules.d/98-sglock.rules (or something...
