Re: Recommended Cockpit Platform

Openplotter in a cockpit on a touchscreen? How did it work for you? How could you put waypoints on a touchscreen in OpenCPN running on Openplotter.
From what I’ve seen touchscreen support is very...

Re: Recommended Cockpit Platform

Re: Recommended Cockpit Platform

Introducing Remote Desktop access from a tablet as an additional software and network component only reduces reliability as it adds additional points of failure. That solution also draws more power...

Re: Recommended Cockpit Platform

Look at the title of the thread ‘Recommended Cockpit Platform’. How can you even install Windows or Mac laptop in a cockpit? Forget about their power draw.
Your suggestion doesn’t make any sense.

Re: OpenCPN Flatpack and Pi 5 issue

You can install BBN Marine OS (free and open source) which has pi5 release.
You should not have issues with permissions of flatpak there. OpenCPN will be preinstalled with good plugins.
There are...

Re: OpenCPN General

I just tried after installing same image.

Re: O-Chart Plugin error on Raspi 5 (BBN)

@molly21

Why are you installing it? BBN OS comes with correct version of o-chart plugin pre-installed.
In OpenCPN catalog it seems broken.

Re: Recommended Cockpit Platform

Both BBN and Openplotter are ‘one developer’ projects as you could see by majority of their GitHub commits.

BBN is more active in commits.

Both have forums on which questions are answered by...

you can install VNC viewer on your tablet and have remote desktop access to your Pi with BBN.
It’s not best from energy efficiency because you have two computers using power: tablet and pi.

I...

Re: Internet on board

GL.inet travel routers are good product line.
They are on OpenWRT.

I use this one:

https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-x750/

Same vendor might have newer better models.

This bug report has a story for those who may encounter the same issue:

https://github.com/bareboat-necessities/lysmarine_gen/issues/399

It seems to be an issue with OpenCPN catalog after all.

Did you download Lite version?
Lite is really small with bare necessities.
Full is bareboat necessities.

Re: RPi5 - BareBoat Necessities OS - o-chart error

It’s libGLEW.so.2.2 in Debian Bookworm.

It seems plugin manager picks up not matching binary for o-chart plugin. (Might be an error in catalog).
