RPi5 - BareBoat Necessities OS - o-chart error

Good evening folks,

As stated above, running a Raspberry Pi 5 with BareBoat necessities loaded. Runs smooth but falters at the o-charts plug-in.

Open CPN: ver 5.8.4

o-charts plugin (via plugins manager on CPN): ver 2.0.3.1

Compatibility
Active Setting : ubuntu-wx32-arm64:22:04

I have updated catalogue both before and on a separate attempt after to see if i get a different outcome. I am able to install the plugin, however when enabled, no new menu options appear under charts. Upon restart, I receive the error;

'The following plugin has encountered errors during startup:

o-charts

This plugin will be ininstalled. You might want to reinstall it after updating the catalog.'

The log report says the following:

00:59:28.197 ERROR dlunix.cpp:120 Failed to load shared library '/home/user/.local/lib/opencpn/libo-charts_pi.so': libGLEW.so.2.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Hoping someone can help me out with this.

Re: RPi5 - BareBoat Necessities OS - o-chart error

As you see libGLEW.so.2.1shared object is missing. This object exists in Debian Bullseye but no longer in Bookworm
I have always said that mixing packages from Ubuntu and Debian makes no sense.
What you could do. My advice: uninstall OpenCPN from PPA and all related plugins and install from bookworm-backports.

Howto activate backports: https://wiki.debian.org/Backports

Or take the path via Flatpak

O-charts plugin works for me if I just enable it after installing BBN OS. It’s already there. There was no need to install it from plugin manager.

Also libGLEW is there too.

sudo find / -name libGLEW\*

Then plugin from the catalogue very strange version. Namely libGLEW.so.2.1 is available in Ubuntu 20.04 and no longer in 22.04

Re: RPi5 - BareBoat Necessities OS - o-chart error

It’s libGLEW.so.2.2 in Debian Bookworm.

It seems plugin manager picks up not matching binary for o-chart plugin. (Might be an error in catalog).

This bug report has a story for those who may encounter the same issue:

https://github.com/bareboat-necessit...gen/issues/399

It seems to be an issue with OpenCPN catalog after all.
