Re: Checkbook Yard or Contractor in Ft. Lauderdale

I second going north. Further south, further the cost. Get up north of Jupiter and you won’t regret it.

Re: Intermittend starting problem

I guess is at the binnacle or shifter. The neutral safety switch. Easy to find. First look at the transmission. See a switch? Wires? If not there. Look at the shift lever it self. Wires going in?...

Re: help! lake Okeechobee and St Lucie canal w 5 1/2 draft

You would be good. But what’s your air draft?
Clearance is 48’ at the railroad bridge. Near port mayaca. Also. Lots of toxic blue green water. Don’t touch the water.

Re: Tohatsu 5hp 2 stroke runs fine for 20mins then quits and won't restart!

Sounds like an ignition issue to me. Like the coil gettting warm. Or ignition module or whatever that engine has.
Also. Just my 2 cents. Don’t use starting fluid on a 2 stroke. Doesn’t have the oil...

Re: Tohatsu 18hp 2-stroke - FRUSTRATED - Please help!!

Good advice there. If it were me I would do the carb and fuel pump. Might as well. You can usually by rebuild kits for both that come with everything you need. Then YouTube away for people that have...

Re: Tohatsu 18hp 2-stroke - FRUSTRATED - Please help!!

Sounds to me like the float and float pin ( it’s what regulates the amount of fuel getting from the carb bowl through the jets) need replaced in the carb. Easy enough job. While you have the carb off...

Re: Catamarans with Big Outboard Motors

Any sort of cruising cat will do that for ya. Not with outboards though. Stick to diesel inboards imo.
Leopard... something like that. Basically the sail cat without the stick.

Re: Wet balsa core repair options?

Nope. Tear it off. Replace. Regales to seal. Honestly if you have worked with glass before know how to use a grinder. It’s not a big deal. Just takes lots of patience and hard work. Good may and...

Re: Registering a Dinghy necessary?

While traveling what I have noticed is no. I never see registered dingys. As you know though. In the us, all boats under power have to be.
When I travel. No I wouldn’t bother. Up to how much risk...

Re: Trip from Tampa around Miami to Stuart

If I remember. Isn’t the railroad bridge on the ockeechobee 49’? How many degrees heel do you need to gain 9’ air draft? Test it before you go!

Re: Worth it to get a rub rail?

I do have an older Boat and abuse it since well it’s old. But the rub rail comes in handy so much. I can soft touch a piling while docking and it makes sooo much easier when I am by myself.

Get...

Re: Advice? 8 hp vs 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke

I retract that. I think the newer 2 strokes can idle for a while. My older ones you have to run up after a bit to clear all the oil off the plugs.

Re: Advice? 8 hp vs 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke

I have lots of experience with smaller engines in my old job. A dingy doesn’t idle that often making a two stroke attractive. A two stroke 9.9 or 15 would be ideal.

Re: Sea Sickness Solution - Anyone Tested?

So the idea is to cut down on the noise to make the sight sense heightened?

Or is it to mess with your balance?

Re: Where in South Eastern Fl to hang out for a Month?

The mooring field in KW can be painful in a North breeze. Went through on my 25’ powerboat. I wouldn’t have wanted to sleep through that rocking and rolling.

Re: Where in South Eastern Fl to hang out for a Month?

I was just there 3 weekends ago. Water was nice and clear. Actually this summer didn’t have the algae blooms as last one did.

After study. It was waste runoffs from leaky sewage systems. Gross....
