Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!
I remember when the Cortex system was coming out that you were not a fan. Maybe rightfully so. Regardless, I bought it for multiple reasons with one of the primary being the remote monitoring. ... |

Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!
Or, maybe your radio didn't pick them all up. The migrant boat in distress south of Zakynthos went on for a long time. There must have been 20 alerts off that one alone. Regardless, I'm not lying... |

Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!
As an FYI, I have to agree with the OP, I simply can't take the DSC distress calls anymore. Almost every night - every time the Greek coast guard issue a PAN PAN, it goes off with gusto. Absolutely... |

Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!
I installed the Cortex about a year aga and had similar problems with DCS and with the MOB feature. Somehow I was able to go into the settings and modify the MOB feature so it didn't keep going off.... |

Re: Shaded Panels - Catamaran Boom
Yep, and the diagram is super rudimentary. It's highly unlikely you can actually install panels like that. For the op, move your boom to a bigger angle. Essentially you are restricted by the... |

Re: Fishing in the Eastern Med
We didn't fish much in the Ionian this year so I don't have much recent experience. But, I did run into another cruiser who said he was slaying the fish. He said he was using smaller lures. ... |

Re: Why do you guys like monohulls so much?
I'm guessing you read the description but I'd classify that cat as a project boat. Compare that to this Hunter, 2011, for $125k. https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/2011-hunter-39-7987779/ |

Re: Why do you guys like monohulls so much?
Here are the listings for all sailboats priced between $125,000 and $150,000 which number 744 in total (Yachtworld).... |

Re: Why do you guys like monohulls so much?
Wow, you dug up an old one. But, at least your honest. And, to be honest in return, I'd rather have a $150k mono then a $150k cat. You can get a pretty nice mono for that money but it will be... |

Re: 60 foot Catamaran for Couple?
This really is a pure egotistical sentence followed by a pure naïve one. Great job!! |

Re: Vesper Cortex
I have more now than with my last post. I guess it's moving up to "Pretty Good" from "Hold" for me. We used the anchor alarm more and it's easier to understand with more experience. The charging... |

Re: Air conditioning brand
I know the OP has already made a decision. I just want to add that I've been very happy with the Marinaire Heat Pumps (3) I installed 7 months ago. For how much we use them and the price, and... |

Re: Pro Kennex 420/445 Catamaran 6 cabins
Same with my FP Marquises. I was going to let it go because it's so obvious that "all of mass production "fiberglass" catamarans (even new, no matter age), are made of wood (plywood or balsa)" isn't... |

I would contact Yeloya, a member of this forum. He owns a charter company in Marmaris called Offshore Sailing and while his boats are not all brand new, they are in excellent condition and... |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
Hey, the positive of the whole experience is we went out in the bay and anchored and looked what we hooked with out chain (in 20 knots and driving rain). Bonus!! |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
Thanks Dan. It's just some fiberglass work so no big deal. I just wanted to share as too often we (I) only post the wins. Two things occur more and more to me. One is the more I know, the more I... |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
This is probably the reason it broke free and that my assumption that the anchor would continue to dig down rather then just pop out was wrong. To be clear, from observation there wasn't a ball of... |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
I can't say as I've no experience with them and have now pledged to keep an open mind to other (shitty) anchors. Ooop's. That was a joke. |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
I somewhat suspect the 6:1 scope could have had something to do with it. We've been here for two days though and there was a lot of tension on the anchor so I assumed it had buried. Not so. By... |

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow
Do you mean cent's? I mean you can't give them away except for scrap :whistling: But, after this, I'll try harder to keep an open mind with other anchors. I PROMISE!! |

My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor owner
Today my Rocna 55 broke out of hard mud and didn't reset. This happened in 11' of water with somewhere around 90' of scope. We were Med moored and the port stern kissed the quay causing a small... |

Re: 60 foot Catamaran for Couple?
Grit, well, I'd love to see that video. And maybe it's the difference between boats, but mine is quite easy with power winches where needed. Usually I just use my toe to do things. What is so... |
